Beautiful yarns gals!

Jexx, congrats on the wheel!  What kind?  Have you ever over dyed blk/white yarn?  They come out great!  I love what Carol offers at the Sheep Shed.  It's actually quality fiber, much of it from Brown Sheep who makes premium sock yarn.

I've been spinning boring old brown shetland to weave into a horse blanket for my DH.  Nothing special!
I got an Ashford Traveler. I think I might want to rub it with some tung oil someday to give it a little more luster, but overall I think it's great fun.
I love the Sheep Shed fiber, too. I want to try dying it but I have a lot of other things going on right now. So much to learn, so little time, ya know? It is good fiber to learn on, though, I think, because it is so cheap but it still makes good yarn.

Ooh, tasty Asian extras, I am excited!

I got mine all cut out today, just need to start stitching. Well, my iron needs to heat up first so I can something with it before I start the stitching, but then I'll be ready to go. This is the real first step and I hate it! But I will love it once I get into it, I know I will. Wait, where is the iron?
3213  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: Embroidery Hoopla Round 4 on: January 14, 2011 09:52:05 AM
I know you all have already picked out the theme for round four, but I had an idea earlier today and had to tell someone. You may hate it, but I'm going to throw it out there anyways. What about a Round Robin round? Where you send out a hoop, blank with your chosen cloth in it to someone and they decorate part of it based on what you like, then send it on to someone else who adds to it, and another person, and then finally back to you. Of course, the other people do the same and in the end everyone has a hoop that has been decorated by three other people. Does that make sense?
I think it's a really cool idea. So round 4 is diptychs and triptychs, Round 5 is clocks, and Round 6 is Round Robin? I am so down. Can we have all 3 round going at once? Or at least 2 of them? Maybe just a little over lap?

Thanks Belladune!
Puppy, sorry it sucked, but looks really pretty. At least you learned from it, right, even if you never spin it again.
Hippie, you inspire me. You have any personal favorite tutes or websites for spinning learners? You have any you have done yourself? I wish I had a real person here in my area to learn from .

Yay! I have been so excited to post on here but haven't had my pictures uploaded. I got a wheel for Christmas (on NYE) and have been having so much fun! I'm not nearly good yet, but I am amused and that's what's important to me.

My first, plied, roving from Sheep Shed

Some more, plied. Meh. More Sheep Shed roving

Third plied Sheep Shed roving. Got 2 bobbins from this. I really like these ones

And then I got into my good stuff from Knit.etsy.com. I love the girl who run this shop. I won a free years worth of luxury batts (her Diamond Club) from her and the first is sending out Tuesday. I am so excited! This one was called Koi and I had my eye on it for probably a year before I bought it. Yes, I was making sweet virtual fiber love to it on my monitor before I was even spinning on a drop spindle. It is 70% Mohair and 30% nylon. It is everything I dreamed it would be.

Yay! You recieved! I'm glad you liked your Cthulhu. I have yet to read any Lovecraft, but I need to. It is on "the list." (dramatic music here)

I would like to mention that the yarn for the multi-colored scarflette was handspun by me and was very difficult to part with.

I have been wanting to make a monster mouth needle book for a while, but I haven't. The inspiration wasn't there for doing one for Gamemom so I still didn't even make plans for it. Good thing. How would I top that one? How would I convince you all I wasn't inspired by it and stealing ideas? It is quite snazzy, though. It makes me happy to look at it.

Sad I get told all the time that people think I am from Portland but I'm not. I'm from TX. And I live in NM. I want to go! You guys make me so jealous. I want a stitched KittyKill autograph, too. This is my grumpy face:  Angry

I have a question: how big should the needle books be? 3"? 4"? 6"? How big are they usually? I've never had one so I don't know. I have my design for Game mom's but I don't know how big to make it.

I was at Hobby Lobby the other day looking at the clearance racks and I found floss on sale, the Pearlescent Effects for 28cents rather than their usual $1.99. it made me happy. Will I get a chance to use them in round 4?!
