Those star wars manatees are the best. Holy cow, how can I live up to that?! I just had to link them to my husband and his best friend.

Ah, man, another thread I need to watch. Too... Much... I need to get off craftster for a while, but not until I finish these 3 swaps, ahem, *start* AND not until this gallery is finished!

My hoarding issue lately is spinning yarn. I have been spinning about a year now and have officially used 1 skein of my own personal handspun. It's so hard to use it, I put so much effort into it. How can I just make something with it?

I know what I'm going to do! Now I just need to get finished with my swirlie swap so I can start on this one! Hm, what size hoops should I use?

I've received! I will post probably tomorrow, I hope. I will also post in the mail probably Friday, I hope.
3116  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Discussion and Questions / Re: any interest in a spinning CAL? Thinking March 2011 on: March 01, 2011 04:07:15 PM
I'm trying to learn to spin, and I have a garbage bag of fleece from a local sheep.  I would need to clean and prepare it to try to spin it, thou.  And I don't have a wheel, just a drop spindle.

Would that be okay?

I learned to spin on a drop spindle. Drop spindles are awesome!
Totally! If I had a chance to go back and do it all again, I would still learn on a spindle. It makes wheeling it so much easier with that fore knowledge!

Hi I'm Jessie and I'm a fiber addict.
Oh, wait, is that not how we start out?
My goal this month is to get the fleece that I have had in my garage for 9 months combed and ready to spin, though I don't think I will spin any of it. I just want it clean and ready. I might spin some other stuff, I have a bobbin full of 2oz of a lux batt that I need to ply, but I just want that fleece out of my garage (so in May I can get 3 more!).

What is this I hear about "prizes?" Are you serious?!

ETA: We went to the "zoo" today and I got some llama love. Is it bad that the whole time I was thinking "what are you they going to do with your fleece when they sheer you?" while I was loving on her head?

Spindles need more love. Learning to spin is good times. Join in. We'll be seeing you around here more often, then, eh?

Someone in the last round was talking about using freezer paper and a printer to transfer. It worked well for me. basically cut a sheet of freezer paper down to printer paper size, iron it to your fabric that's the same size or smaller plastic side facing fabric, lining up the edge that will go through first (from my experience) and print it, using the fabric as the side that gets the ink. Peal off the paper and hoop it. The ink should wash out, though I don't know, I do it all backwards and from underneath so I didn't have to worry about it.

Just checking in. My large is just about done but other than that I am a little stumped.
