2511  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: Coffee Cup Cozies on: November 08, 2011 01:25:25 PM
I don't use these things, but these are really nice! Maybe if I had one like this I would find a reason to use it. I like the first one better. It seems more like fresh fallen leaves to me. I'm gonna pin it!

After I finish this last item I get to wrap! I am so happy! I am so excited! Wrapping them is almost as fun as unwrapping them!

Yay!! I'm so excited Smiley

2513  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Re: Another (better!) Star Wars Family on: November 07, 2011 10:40:53 AM
I love your Star Wars family! What a great job! particularly your yoda hat! I bet he'll use for a long time!
Thanks you guys! Actually, Yoda was my 2 year old little girl, Alice. One reason I didn't want to do SW was because I wasn't too fond of turning my 2yo girly girl into a 900+yo man.
2514  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Re: Yoda Hat (lots of pics) NOW WITH TUTORIAL!! on: November 07, 2011 09:54:10 AM
I made it! Check out my Halloween post for pictures.
2515  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Another (better!) Star Wars Family on: November 07, 2011 09:51:18 AM
I don't even like Star Wars but my husband has been dreaming of this for years so we did it.
All together:

Yoda:

Can't get a good picture of this girl! She got the prize for best costume at the church Trunk or Treat. I made for THIS costume:
Hat - tutorial from Here. Wish I could have found blue doll eyes but alas, my HL sucks. Yoda really has blue eyes.
Robe - McCall's # M5952
Shirt and Pants under the robe - no pattern. This si the frist time I have made a shirt with sleeve using only a store bought shirt as a pattern!

Luke Skywalker:

Made for Russ:
Pants - no pattern. Very tight, slits 1/2 way up calf so they could be tight enough to fit into his boots
Boot covers - no pattern again, zip up the back, made by sewing strips of fabric onto a bigger piece and then cutting down to size. I love how these came out, even though they ended up fraying a bit once he started wearing them.
Shirt - Another McCall's pattern but I can't find it to tell you what number. It was really a karate shirt, Russ calls it his "Hiya shirt."

Leia:

Can you tell Leia is 4 1/2 months pregnant?!
"Wig" - crocheted basic hat and ran long pieces of brown through it, like rug hooking with 4' pieces. Then I put it on my husband and styled it. There were some dingleberries off the buns the longer I wore it, but I really think it came out OK.
Dress - Simplicity 6777 from 1966, altered for length and a hood.
Boot covers: These sucked but they covered my shoes and made them vaguely look like white boots.

Han Solo:

His vest is my favorite part of all the costumes! I didn't use a pattern, couldn't find one, but I did find a website that has super awesome close up picture of the vest so I used an old shirt of my husbands for the basic pattern and then drew out the pockets. The pockets are awesome!
Shirt - McCall's 6953 from 1980, modified to have zipper in the back because i couldn't find stretch fabric in the right color.
Gun - He ordered the gun but it came in white and orange so he spray painted it.
Blood stripes (down side of pants) - ribbon with sharpie and safety pins.
Also, he was working really hard on making a holster and belt because he wanted to be super authentic, but the Dremel died. He will finish it someday and then I know I will be dragged to a convention somewhere. *sigh*

R2D2, our candy bucket:

Pumpkins!

Rebel Scum! Had to use a toothpick so it didn't just look like a nutsack.

Imperial logo.

And... that's it!
2516  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Christmas Stocking Swap Rd. 7 (signups Sept. 12-Oct 1.; sendouts Dec. 1) on: November 06, 2011 06:16:07 PM
MadHatteh, I went in for surgery on my eyebrow in high school and the stupid wench couldn't get my vein, either. I ended up with a huge bruise on the inside of my elbow, another on the back of my hand where someone else had to finally take it from her and stick me, and a black eye with stitches. I used it against people when they were mean to me in the drive through at Taco Bell, making up stories about being a drug addict with an abusive boyfriend and making them feel like assholes when they got to the window. My boss didn't that, but it was really funny seeing their faces!

I finally made my first project for this swap today! It was the same thing as the second to last thing for my MYB so I set them up and did them assembly line style. Now I get to finish the last thing for that, wrap it up, and I'm all about the stocking! Heck yeah! I found like 2 yards of purple tulle the other day and not only was I thinking "Why in the hell do I have this?" but "What the hell am I going to do with it?!" DING! My partner is PurplePaisley. You think there might be some tulle involved in her stocking and/or several stuffers? I think so! Now to finish with these French knots...

ETA: I have a question for you guys! What's the word on wrapping stuffers? I always thought the purpose of having things in a stocking was to get a bunch of little stuff that doesn't require wrapping, but in the last Stocking swap I was in everyone was wrapping everything. What does everyone this round think about that? Curious I am!

2518  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Completed Projects / Re: Fiber Friday, November 4, 2011 on: November 04, 2011 08:05:31 PM
I remember when you posted your son's first spin, from pencil roving. I am loving the red and orange, though I don't think I would like them as much plied together.

Here's my offering, meant to post it a week or 2 ago. Oops! Some of that stuff I was given (that I still don't know what to do with the rest of it) there was some roving that I carded and spun worsted and I think I made it 2 ply with itself but I can't think with these buttheads talking nerdy behind me. They would be mad if I just told them to shove it. BAH!
2519  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Magic Yarn Ball Swap Round 15 *SU closed SO Nov.14/11* on: November 03, 2011 09:04:44 PM
Today I got to do a lot of stalking on my partner and wow! I think I like her. I got to know her pretty well so when we went out tonight I saw tons of stuff for her ball and spent more money than I probably should have. Problem: I don't think it will all fit in the ball! Or even around it in a box! Oh noes! Maybe I'll have to save it for my kids OR just wait and see if I get ZQ as a partner again somewhere in the future.
2520  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Re: My latest bunch of cross stitch on: November 03, 2011 11:19:26 AM
Yes, the multicolored text is great! I also love how some of the detailed fade out so that some of the stitches are barely visible because they are so light! You did a great job. Where did you get the patterns?
