2381  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: The Fiber Swap (Sign-up: Oct. 1 to 17; Send by: Nov. 21) on: October 02, 2011 12:17:06 PM
This is exciting! But I hate having all 5 of my swap spots taken. Man, I wish she would just give feedback for the potholder swap. I know you want to back feed as many people as you can at once but really? I sent like 2 weeks and it has already been posted and I've even already received and posted myself! GAH! I may just wait a few days before I send in my Q. Don't let me forget to do that, I really do want to join!

So I've never done any spinning of any sort but I'm really interested in getting started. Would this be the place to start? I don't want anyone to feel like they've been stuck with a noob.
I would think this would be good swap for a beginner. What you may not realize about us fiber lovers is that we want everyone else to join us and jump at every chance we get to turn convert induce um... whatever... new fiber lovers!

Oh, and Belladune you know damn well we would all love your fresh locks. And we would all love sending to you. I won't lay claim on you because I have already had that blessing, but I would not complain if it came back down to me and you. You did help in my turning to the fiber side.

Bella, I saw this on your Blog. Lovely!
Nik: I don't think it's too heavy. I love it. I think it will have a nice drape if worked up right. I also think it work much better knit than crocheted, which sucks for me who doesn't knit! I was genuinely sad nobody bought it yesterday but then again, I only had one sale. We'll see how the next 3 weeks go.

Today is Farm Animals Day! Yes, I still keep up with that stuff. Those swaps were how I met Belladune, actually. <3 I am using this as motivation to get some of that fleece in my garage clean. Hurray motivation! It's also my man's b-day *snort* he's a 'farm animal."
2383  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Discussion and Questions / Re: Spinning dog "roving" on: October 02, 2011 09:35:11 AM
someone I met through the farmer's market gave me a box of poodle hair and I tried to wash it and that didn't work and i tried to card it so i could wash it after i spun it but that didn't work either. the smell was horrible. i gagged every time i opened the bag. Will the smell ever come out of the yarn or will you have to smell like dog every time you wear a dog hair sweater? that's my question.
2384  CLOTHING / Clothing Sewalongs / Re: Patchwork Skirt Sew-Along on: October 02, 2011 08:28:23 AM
I'm not starting this now. I already have one, made for me in a swap, but I would love to make my own. Even pregnant the way mine works would still fit me! I have a few charm packs and lots of scraps so when I do get around to making another one for myself, I think I will be all set. I don't think I would color coordinate the rows, though. Who knows. We'll see when (*if) it ever comes to pass. I'm excited to watch you guys, though.

Me too! Me too! Even if it's not a homespun theme, just give me an MYB to make, man!

DO IT NOW! You've been in a few swaps with me lately and I think I like you. Come to the dark side Christmas Stocking Swap, you won't regret it.
2387  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Givers and needers R10 (signups till Sept 30 Givers: Oct 25, Needers: Nov 10) on: October 01, 2011 04:56:57 AM
2 1/2. They usually sleep good but last night was... ug! One would scream until the other woke up, who would scream until the other woke up again... Alice decided at about 1 that she had had enough sleep for the night.

I would totally start stuffing boxes now but I really need to get ready for Market! I have new yarns to put out so hopefully I will make more than 10$ today!

Hello new friends! Jez1982, looks like you're getting that spinning kit after all. We can be open about our relationship, no hiding for us! Hello again Petskin, since we already knew we were meant to be from the beginning!<3

I haven't slept tonight. It's still an hour before I should be awake for the Market and about 2 hours before I would be awake any day but Saturday. Bah, stupid kids. Why did I have them? Why am I making another?

I just finished straightening up my craft supplies and my wist. I am so ready for this to start! I was hoping to maybe get partners like really late oct. 1st... but with signups closing at midnight I guess I will just have to sit on my hands and wait!
sitting on my hands gets me in trouble *giggles!*
