2381  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Discussion and Questions / Re: Time to think about the next Sheep to Shawl Challenge! on: December 09, 2011 12:31:13 PM
Fleece to Fashion still implies sheep. I'm thinking "Fiber to Fashion."
I am excited about this again! Why isn't anyone else chiming in?

What you're saying is that "Sheep to Shawl" is more for alliteration and just the sound of it then for the actual rules?! *gasp!*

YES! Let's do it!

Fleece to fashion - Make what ever you please, from what ever you please! I like this idea. It's free form, though sometimes having some boundaries helps cultivate ideas.
specialty fibers/blends to socks Dunno if I like this idea.
spin it lace and make something delicate  This could be fun!
spin it funky  and make something cool/artful This could be intimidating to new spinners.
Should we go color themes?  Meh
Should we stick to one fiber? It should be wool, right? sheep to shawl and all. Maybe as long as it has a certain percentage of wool in it it could be cool?
Should we all be making the same thing? Like with the shawl? I like that but I think a little variety would be nice.

I liked 2 months. I don't know what else to say.
2384  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Christmas/Winter Ninni Swap GALLERY: send out by 12/7 on: December 09, 2011 07:15:30 AM
Thanks for the compliments, everyone! I loved making all of this. Once I actually read Frank's Q I was inspired and couldn't stop making until I was done. She was easy to craft for. The ornaments were inspired by an Etsy link in her Q.

Frank, they look great on your tree! I am so happy you like it all. Not that I was worried...  8)ddddddddd

And that was what our 'sponsor'preg_replace('/(.{49})/', '$1 ', 'dddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddd') d had to say. For some reason she loves the letter d. I think I had more to say but she won't let me!

How are you sealing them? If you don't seal them right then it won't work Modge Podge won't do the trick!
They look great, I just want to make sure they are made to stay looking great!

I kn I already posted this but C-ster is saying I haven't. Maybe the kids messed it up? Maybe C-ster went bad? Maybe I was dreaming? Tempted to say I posted in the wrong gallery but no, it's not in my posts at all! Dang it, here I go again. I posted comments about other people's stockings too, though. Suffice it to say I didn't say anything bad. Good job, guys! Here's my loot from Margiej. Everything is labelled in the pictures.

Everything I pulled from the box.

I think the pillow is my favorite part of the package.

I already ate all the candy. I am also in love with the bookmark she made with the vintage lace and red beads.

Thanks! Sorry for not posting sooner; I totally thought I had.
2387  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Christmas Stocking Swap Rd. 7 (signups Sept. 12-Oct 1.; sendouts Dec. 1) on: December 06, 2011 11:30:01 AM
Are my messages getting sent or  not?  I can't tell.  I did send my package at least, and suppose it  was received>  ?
I already got your package and posted pics in the gallery!

ETA: Well, I thought I had. Maybe I just uploaded them? Maybe I meant to hit post but the kids hit something else instead? Dang it, now I have to post again. I;ll go do that now.

I'm curious about how the kids like them too. Alice "helped" me when I was making designs for the pictures (because that's the only reason I was playing with them,  Roll Eyes) but she was mostly just stacking them. I want to know how the boys like them, or how their 9yo sister Ireland likes them. I'm so excited!
2389  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Christmas/Winter Ninni Swap; send by 12/7 on: December 05, 2011 02:16:07 PM
Sent today! We got snow so school was cancelled but I still got out and ran errands. Stupid schools closing for just a couple inches of snow, bah! I used to walk to school in -17F weather in Idaho! I was excited because this was my last swap that I had to send out for C-ster and Swap bot and now I am all clear until the couple I am looking forward to in January open up and then I had to go and volunteer to be an angel for the G&NR10 swap. Bah, I just can't say no. Oh well, maybe I'll get this dress done for the Saturday party and the hoop I was making my BIL for Cmas last year (the second of a diptych so no, he didn't go present-less last year) before I have to start on my angel package. Maybe.
2390  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: Hand spun/Knitting/Crocheting/Yarnie type swap on: December 05, 2011 08:01:54 AM
I spin but would love some knit goodies! I crochet also, but knitting has not yet been tried. I love knit things! I have some handspun that I will not use because I know it would be so much nicer knit than crocheted. Sad I am also happy it starts after the new year! Count me in, just don't forget to alert me when the SU thread goes up.
