2371  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: Tiny Owl Knits/Inspired Swap on: December 04, 2011 12:46:41 PM
I could be in after Christmas, but I am also one who only crochets and would LOVE some knits as long as someone would love some crocheted items.
2372  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Christmas/Winter Ninni Swap; send by 12/7 on: December 04, 2011 12:37:47 PM
Frank: I was going to get on here and say that shortly after I find my glue gun I will finished but then I just thought of something that might actually make me 100% satisfied with the Ninni. I'll still try to get it out tomorrow when I run errands. Hurray being almost finished!

Babs, that sucks. I don't know what else to say but I would feel bad for not expressing concern. You should make something. It will make you feel better.

SilverStah, You can take a second job spinning yarn! Anything Peacock always gets me for some reason. And your Rusty Car reminds me of my first car Vicky. I miss her.  Cry but she was actually painted a rust orange, so all the rust spots blended in! And Angel Wings is making me happy and lustful and so is Valentine. Wow, I think the only one of those 5 that I am not IN LOVE with is the last one, though it is really pretty too.

And Congrats on finishing Grad School! That is pretty amazing too.

Thanks everyone!

Amalgam, you totally should try it! French knots are one of my favorite fills. And after you do it, post it so I can see it.

Margie if I get the wrong one it will be just an even bigger surprise.
I don't even have a remote. We only watch TV on DVD/Bluray. It sucks sometimes being as lazy as me with no TV but meh, one less bill. And I don't have to worry about accidentally watching Football, schyuck!
I sent, btw.

Not a problem, Bella.
I had a dream last Thursday night that I was spinning and I was so excited because I would get to share on a FF again but then I woke up and was in TX. I think I remember only 1 person sharing last week as well. Sad face. Maybe after I finish my Ninni swap I can sit back in front of my wheel again. Maybe.
2377  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Discussion and Questions / Re: Well....I've Jumped in with Both Feet! on: December 02, 2011 01:31:19 PM
I've heard good things about Tung oil, but I've also heard you have to rub it a LOT. With all the pieces you might want to settle on something a little less time consuming. Or at least do it before you assemble. My wheel is unfinished and I was so excited to put it together when I got it that I didn't finish it, though maybe I should have. Never will now that it's all together, though, too many joints!

I love spinning with Eyelash yarn! That is beautiful, Bella, really is.
What does "spinning fractal" mean?
2379  Archive of Past Craftster Challenge Entries / CHALLENGE 69 ENTRIES / Tangram-esque sets with matching bags on: December 02, 2011 11:45:05 AM
Sew Mama Sew had a Passionate November. One of their passion days was Passion for Play and included in their tutorials was this one for a "tangram-esque fabric puzzle." I ended up making 2 sets: 1 for my brother's boys and 1 for my kids (i.e. me!)I used only fabrics I had on hand which means they weren't all quilting cotton. The only real change (other than size) that I made from the tute was that the backs match the fronts. She said she just used whatever colors and had I think 4 of each rainbow color and 18 white. That didn't make sense to me. THere are 6 of each color backing.

For Ethan and Connor (4yo and 3yo) I tried to get all the colors to be solids.
Here's the Front sides:

The backs:

And more fun!

I forgot to get a picture of the bag. For the bag I just cut 18"x4" strips of each non-white fabric and, well, made a bag with them.

And for me Russ and Alice (5yo and 2 yo) I tried to get all the colors to be patterned. These were a little bigger than the set for E&C. I learned a bunch.

The bag:

This bag was bigger, I included 2 strips of the white on it as well.

These were a lot of fun to make and play with. I want to do a set sometime where each fabric is a different texture. I think that would be cool.

Thanks for looking! C&C?

I've been using fabric for wrapping for a couple years now but this, this is smart. Thank you!
