3  First Dyed Rovings in Spinning: Completed Projects by knittycrafter on: February 24, 2006 08:15:43 PM
I dyed these rovings this morning with Wilton's Cake Dyes. This is the first time I have dyed rovings although I did try dyeing yarn a couple of months ago.

The two together:

This is the roving I'm spinning right now.

I think I may have felted the rovings (I've never tried to felt before, so I'm not sure what it looks like)

The roving turned out kind of fuzzy and flat in color, but when I have ordered rioving before it's been shiny. Does soaking it in a woolwash make it shiny and smooth again? Any suggestions?

4  Re: Clapotis from Knitty in Knitalongs by knittycrafter on: October 12, 2005 09:42:56 AM
Hi I'm new to the KAL. I have been wanting to make clapotis for a while now. I started to cast on last night and I am now in Section two. I just wanted to post pictures of my yarn and my swatch.

The yarn is Four Play from Brooks Brothers Farm (I think I said that Right) I bought the yarn when I went to Stitches. It is very soft and nice to work with.

This is the swatch. BTW The yarn isn't as shiny as the top picture shows, but still very pretty. Oh and my guage was right on, I was very excited.

I finished my 1st armwarmer a couple of days ago. I think it turned out so cool. I really enjoyed making it and it's something I actually want to wear! This was also my first dpns and chart project.

Here's my armwarmer
