I was thinking making little bows for hair accessories but im not sure it they will make the fabrics justice. should i make bows and something else with it as well?? Or scratch the bow idea and go full on with something else?? what would you do?? Mind you really cannot sew very well.

5  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / Re: WHY CANT I OPERATE SEWING MACHINES!!! im so FRUSTRATED!!! on: September 10, 2009 09:42:54 AM
Why don't you get some scraps and sew in a panel down the sides... If you make it wide enough it will look like it's supposed to be there. Congrats on getting past your initial crisis! K.

GOOD IDEA!! THANKS!!!

I was away for the weekend and now I see that you have been a successful conquerer of your machine!!  I am so happy that you got the machine to sew.  See... I told you it can be done!!  Now go and create lots of great things!!

i was working on a blouse made out of a hoodie and i accidently sewed it backwards. the thing is after i was done sewing it i realized what i had done but it was too late to fix it. i had trimmed the excess seam fabric and if i were to unsew it and sew it  back up again i wouldnt be able to fit in my blouse!! LOL!! so im starting a new project. Imma make a pokadot tiered skirt Smiley im starting today. hopefully i get it done today as well so i can show you guys.

I am so Happy For You!
So, next piece of advice, clean and oil every moving part, inside and out. And when you're through, doubly clean dry with a dry cloth, anywhere you've oiled, especially around the needle shaft, including the little screws, under the feed-dog, behind the bobbin shuttle. This machine may have been sitting for a while. Any place you find a 1/8" little hole, drilled into the machine head, that's an oil hole. And if it's not, it weon't really hurt it, except stay away from the motor itself, and the wiring!LOL!
How about posting a pic of your machine in the sewing machine discussion board, then some of us who may recognize the machine can give you tips about it.
Happy Sewing!  Can't wait to see what you're going to make.
Final word of caution... Stay away from knits or nappy fabric, like velvets. Wait until you get your confidence up. There are specific techniques for those fabrics. If you have any specific questions, you can always send me a PM.... I've only been sewing for 42 years!!! K

WOW i didnt know that!! i thought all fabrics were the same!! Thanks so much for offering ur help  Smiley im sure im gonna need it sooner THAN later. LOL

I love ur hoodie!! it rocks!!! Imma try n make one. thanks for the tute n for modeling the unfinished pieces. I have a hard time figuring out how to do the projects if i dont see the pieces in 3D. You modeling them while undone during the process made it a lot easier for me. YOU ROCK THANKS A BUNCH!!

I feel your pain!  Been following the thread and wish I were your next door neighbor...I'd be right over.  Good Luck.  I can be done.  Get some help and you'll be sewing in no time.  Your machine is NOT out to get you...Master it.

GUESS WHAT GUYS!!!! Guess who can sew now?Huh LOL ME!! NewYorkgogostyle!!!! YAY!!! I made some lounge pants. they fit kinda weird but hey i got the machine to work. turns out i was threading it all wrong. i bought it second hand so it had no manual finally my aunt came over n taught me how to thread it. she stayed of a little longer than usual to make sure i got the threading down n now i can do it blind folded!!! I will post the pics of my lounge pants when i finish decorating them. Thank you all for ur support and encouraging words. I couldnt have persisted without you guys!!! LOVE YOU ALL!!! I WILL POST THE PICS OF THE PANTS ASAP!! PROMISE!!
