That is so awesome! I think we should listen to kids more when it comes to designing their clothes. They know exactly what they like.

6  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Metamorphosis Puzzle Blocks on: September 24, 2009 11:47:56 AM
When I was a kid my uncle gave me a set of these blocks with illustrated images of rural Germany. I always thought they were the coolest puzzle and kept them in good condition. While browsing craft books at a local thrift shop I came across a craft book from the 70's with instructions on how to make a set and had to try it out.

It wasn't difficult, plus it gave me a reason to recycle a few pages from a magazine. (I am all about reusing and recycling). With six different images I was able to vary the difficulty so it is really a good puzzle for any age.

7  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Re: Cute brown dress and top on: September 16, 2009 09:09:38 AM
You did an awesome job on those. I think the gathered shoulder seams would give it a nice added detail. The fabric is a perfect match for the styles of clothing you chose.

10  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Child's Fleece Striped Skirt on: September 11, 2009 08:31:00 PM

Saved from the landfill this skirt is made from strips of fleece that are normally thrown away. Each strip of fabric is a different width and creates a really unique look.

When making a skirt I sort through the strips to find the right lengths and colors. I sew them each individually until I have the desired size I need to cut the skirt. It is a tedious process but well worth the time. I've been able to save garbage bags full of fabric by doing this.

This skirt is a size 2 but has elastic in the back of the waist for a perfect fit. The length measures 11". The ties can be worn in the front or back. Waist and hem are navy blue.

I know I should have a photo of a child wearing this skirt but I didn't have a cooperating 2 year old to do this and I wanted to get it posted.
