My nephew turns 40 this year (we're closer in age to each other than I am to his mom/my sister), and he would adore these!

Great idea!
hehe you should totally make them for him

That's a neat idea. I wouldn't of thought to use that many different colors. (But I am kind of color impaired.)

This is a great idea!  and they turned out well, even if the purple is a little off.

does adding so much color gel alter the flavor of the cake at all?
Thanks! I'm not quite sure about the flavoring. The ones who ate it said it tasted great. So I guess not. haha

Wow those turned out great! I never would have thought you could have gotten such vibrant colors that way. Too bad this wasn't posted a few days earlier my niece would have loved these for her birthday. Guess I have next years cake set.
Yeah. I've heard it works just fine with other flavors like lemon or strawberry, but I'm guessing you have to use more coloring to be sure.

how did you get them so vibrant? when I tried this on a regular cake it turned out more pastel than anything.  Sad
hmm. what kind of dye did you use? because this is the first time I've tried this. I guess the key is adding a TON of gel food coloring and stirring until your arm falls off.

Did you finish these with white frosting and rainbow sprinkles?
well sadly I didn't have any rainbow sprinkles, but the frosting is white.
