1  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / I got the bug bag on: June 09, 2012 08:58:42 PM
I decided I really need a decent tote bag to carry my stuff so
I used the reverse tote tute, but didn't actually make the bags reversable. I'll
try that next time. The first bag I (ever) made came out kind of smaller than
I wanted, and I had a problem with the handle
so I sewed the strap externally. The second bag turned out better; I really like the size and had
the presence of mind to match the pocket fabric. The third is middle size,
I made an applique of the lining fabric for the back because it seemed kind of plain,
then I sewed a little leaf applique onto a hole that mysteriously appeared.
thanks for looking, input appreciated

3  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Bird mobile..why I love Craftster on: February 18, 2012 05:06:14 AM
When i saw this post: Birdie Mobile  by lil_abi from this:

http://www.spoolsewing.com/blog/2008/05/16/bird-mobile/

I knew it was something I could do ..I made one for my cousin's baby born in November, gave to him for xmas and my aunt liked it so much she wanted one for her birthday, i gave hers to her last week. I didn't hand sew and I didn't add wings, just eyes. I made the second one in a day, all materials from stuff on hand (I found the sticks) and my mom gave me the polyfill..thank you so much lil_abi, a fun and easy project..ps thanks to all you who commented and/or voted on my beaded egret..i never would have made that (or these bird mobiles) if it wasn't for this most awesome community

4  Archive of Past Craftster Challenge Entries / CHALLENGE 71 ENTRIES / Seed bead egret, my first Craftster challenge! on: February 06, 2012 04:58:32 PM

This was really a challenge for me as I lack fine motor skills, visual acuity, concentration, patience, etc., but I'm really pleased with how it came out. I traced the image of the egret from a picture I took in Florida last year onto the glass of a 5x7 picture frame using graphite paper. I flipped the glass over so I wouldn't get the graphite on the beads. I used modge podge, pins and toothpicks to stick (and restick..for every three beads I stuck on, I dislodged two) the seed beads, and a few bugle beads, on. I spray painted the frame silver to match and glued the glass onto the frame with gorilla glue.

First ever stuffie using this: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=28412.msg237233#msg237233...easy, helpful tute..a coworker of mine had surgery and she loves elephants so I made this for her to cheer her up. It's made with fleece and cotton and a beaded tail..she's about 6 inches tall. I see what you folks  mean when you say it's hard to give these up

7  HOME SWEET HOME / Pet-Related Crafts: Completed Projects / dog coat on: January 27, 2011 03:26:45 PM
I mde this for my dog last year from a pattern that was given to me several years ago for a dog that died before I made it. This dog wouldn't wear it last year, she just wanted to chew on it, but she tolerates it fine now. We only put it on her when it's really cold out, which it's been a lot this winter. Inside is maroon fleece, outside is that prequited stuff. I modified it a bit by making an opening for her harness, and used velcro for the chest and belly straps. My sewing's not great but it doesn't show much..

8  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Christmas Wallhanging on: January 13, 2011 03:13:04 PM

having a little trouble with posting..anyway, made this for my aunt a few years ago, also made one for my mother..the angel and background fabric was from walmart, but the border (and backing) is from a dress my aunt got in 1967 in Togo when she was in the Peace Corps. The P fell off, so I used Paint to put it back on
9  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / wall hanging on: December 06, 2010 04:40:42 PM
I was inspired by Richard Saja (http://historically-inaccurate.blogspot.com/) and thought I had toile in my fabric pile..it was actually a toile print on stretchy cotton blend so I ironed some interfacing to the back. The cat, fish and crane are from some Japanese fabrics I got at a yard sale, the flowers are from a piece of vintage-y fabric from a church sale and the leaves in the cornes and the borders are from a kanga cloth, also yard sale. The pieces are hand appliqued and the border is machine-sewn. I know it looks totally homamade, but I like the way it came out...thanks for looking, c & c welcome!
