1  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / LED Candle Makeover w/instructions on: January 28, 2010 07:51:56 PM

I love the look of the Febreeze LED luminairies, but I've never been too hot on the patterns or scents available.  I decided to do a makeover sans the scent.

What you'll need:

   1. A Febreze Flameless Luminary Kit
   2. Some sort of semi-transparent paper (I used inkjet ready vellum from a big box office store)
   3. A ruler and something to cut with
   4. Double sided tape or an adhesive applicator (like scrappers use).

Step 1: Unpack your Febreze Luminary Kit and open one of the scented shades.  You're going to be touching the shade a bit, so use gloves if you don't want your hands to smell.

Step 2: Trace/measure onto your chosen paper the shape needed to create your new shade, or print the template on my website http://chokecherryfarms.com/node/36 onto your paper.  If tracing, be sure to mark where the folds will need to go and add a tab so you can tape/glue them together.  You will need two of them.

Step 3:Once you've traced/printed the pieces for your new shade, score them in the correct places to get a nice clean fold.

Step 4: Decorate your shade pieces as desired! I used my computer to decorate my template before I printed it out.

Step 5: Cut out the pieces for your new shade. I used a ruler, a cutting mat, and a rotary cutter to get a nice straight lines.

Step 6: Apply double sided tape or adhesive to the tabs of your shade pieces and remove or cut off any overhanging adhesive.  Attach the ends to make a circular piece.  Make sure the bottom of the shade pieces are flush so it fits nicely into the luminary base. Once they're secure, fold your shade along the lines you scored earlier.

Step 7: Use your fancy new luminary!

2  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Screen Printing: Completed Projects / Extra Fancy on: November 12, 2009 09:41:12 PM

My friend just got a new teaching job, so I sewed her this reusable canvas lunch bag using this pattern: http://www.skiptomylou.org/2008/05/08/lunch-time/ .  I really wanted to use oil cloth (like in the pattern), but there is NO WHERE to buy oil cloth where I live.  Plus, using canvas let me reuse an old screen...  I added a zipper to keep the goodies inside.
3  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Glitterfied Embroidery Pattern on: August 05, 2009 01:24:52 PM

I flipped when I saw Martha Stewart's awesome glitter selection in my local craft aisle.  I blew up an embroidery pattern and printed it on water color paper... then I went crazy with the glue and the glitter.
