I am a beginning sewer and quilter with only a couple of projects under my belt.

I just completed this project as a little gift for my Mom. I thought the instructions were easy to follow and I am happy with the results except I find I could use some help with how to attach the binding in a way that would allow the elastic to fit in what seems like such a tiny space. I must be doing something wrong but there has to be more to the technique of attaching binding and inserting the elastic than is in these instructions. Any advice?

Here is my finished project. I quilted lines in a wavy pattern. Other than trouble with the binding, I really like how this turned out.

Thanks everyone for your kind words!

I will give the quilt to my sister in a couple of days. I hope she likes it. After the baby is born, I will definitely post a picture of the little one on the quilt.

OMG this is too adorable.

You've inspired me to create this for my cat as well. He's a male cat so I envision him in a smoking jacket with a library type background!

I can't wait!

I am a beginning sewer and just finished my first quilt - a patchwork for my nephew due in just about a month.

No new fabric was purchased (except for the binding). Each squares comes from an old clothing item from a family member ranging from his dad's old denim shirt to his big sister's bedroom curtain to his aunt's shrunken blouse. Fabrics chosen were all similar in cool blue tones. I used a rotary blade to cut up the squares:

The finished quilt measures about 3' x 3 1/2'. I really love how the different fabric comes together to look casual and whimsical. I never thought I would love quilting but I do and will definitely quilt again. The next quilt I'd like to try is a big bedspread size quilt.

Thanks for checking out my creation!
