thank you for the pattern!  I couldn't resist making one for my little man..but I probably should have taken a picture BEFORE giving it to him Smiley

2  Drowning in cookies! in Winter Holidays by suesues on: December 22, 2009 12:04:03 AM
So, I have a LOT of friends who don't live near me.  I started with a plan to bake cookies for a few of them, and my list kept growing..and growing..until I wound up mailing out sixteen packages!  Eleven hours of baking later, I had enough cookies to fill my tins (and then some) and $95 later, they were all shipped out via priority mail.  Everyone received them Friday and today, and their reactions make it TOTALLY worth it!  Here are some pics:

Sugar cookies wrapped around Andes mints

Almondy chocolatey ball things..I didn't get a picture of the chocolatey pecan things, so sad.

Chocolate dipped butterscotch log

They didn't all fit in one picture, but this is most of them..chocolate chip remix, peanut butter stuffed chocolate, honeydoodles, nutty balls, and the Andes mint ones

What 11 hours of baking looks like, lol

Ready to disgruntle my friendly postal employees

$95!!! But worth it Smiley

3  Favorite thing I've ever made! in Crochet: Completed Projects by suesues on: December 21, 2009 11:37:12 PM
I made this purse for my sister for Christmas several months ago, and just last week lined it and added the embellishments.  I decided I should take some pictures before I wrapped it up, and decided I should share those here while I was at it!

I used some kind of generic brown yarn that I found in my stash, and Wool-Ease (I think..) for the flowers Smiley

The lining was made from the outer pouch thing that my new sheets came in!  The colors were perfect and it was almost the right shape and size already, so it made lining a little bit easier.

I totally made up the pattern as I went.  I made a rectangle base and crocheted up the sides in all sc.  I love the handles and its fat little bottom!

Also, pardon the mess in my kitchen...I wrecked my car on Friday and I haven't felt like cleaning!

C&C welcome! Smiley

4  What I did while I was sick.. in Crochet: Completed Projects by suesues on: September 12, 2009 07:12:16 PM
My first real post here!  I've had strep throat three times in a month, and laying on the couch gets pretty boring after a while, so, I stashdove and came up with this.  The blue yarn is some kind of mill ends stuff from AC Moore that I got for $1 a bag, with 3 big rolls in a bag..and the green is Red Heart, the great big roll kind.  I've soaked it in Downywater a few times and now it's all nice and soft.  The pattern is from the book Afghans on the Double--I literally looked for the shortest pattern in the book so I could mindlessly get it done in my feverish state  Wink  I expected it to be a tragic mess, but it's actually really cozy and big and even kinda pretty.

There's some trickery here..it's actually even, even though the picture makes it look, uh, the opposite of even.

This shows the colors a little better..

And my dog totally approves..he's been trying to cover up with it ever since it was just a chain Roll Eyes

Let me know what you think!
