1  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Juice bag Lunch Sack on: August 20, 2009 05:13:13 PM
Totally addicted to making things out of these juice bags! This is my sons lunch bag for Jr. High. I was worried that he might be embarrassed about it being "home made". (It is Jr. High!) But several of his friends saw it today and asked if I'd make them one too. It sort of folds in "paper bag style" on the sides and has a flap at the top. It is big but did I mention that he is a jr. high boy? He eats a ton! The bag is 16 juice bags, left over  1 inch single fold bias tape sew back to back and some orange sort of trim. Most of it I picked up on at Goodwill or on clearance, you know when they get rid of the odd colors. Orange and lime green are his favorite colors.

2  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Zippered juice bag pencil case TUTORIAL ADDED! on: August 19, 2009 07:08:18 PM
So I have totally been on a juice pouch kick recently. These are the zippered pencil cases for my sons and nephew.

I made some of them the same (my sons wanted them in their favorite flavor) and some different.

They loved the pouches, but didn't love posing!
3  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / One bathrobe had to die to make this monster bag on: August 12, 2009 07:46:35 PM

This is my version of the Monster messanger bag that has been posted to craftster. Thank you so much for all the messanger bag tutorials on the Purses, bags and wallets board. And thank you for all the other inspiration that have been posted.

This is the bag my son wanted for for 3rd grade.

This is the fluffy robe that we found at Goodwill for $3.99

We used an old red satin type  sheet we had for the lining. We made a flip out tongue/cell phone pocket. (My son insisted on this even though he doesn't have a cell phone!)

Close up of the teeth. I used the bathrobe belt as a shoulder strap. I used the belt loops to attache the handles to the bag.

Close up of the monster face. I cut out about 20 pieces for the face and let my son decide on the pieces. It was supposed to be a little asymmetrical. The face of the monster is a little wavy. I need to get better at applique!

4  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Juice pouch bags on: August 12, 2009 07:14:57 PM
I finished my first juice pouch bags. I want to thank so many of you for your wonderful inspiration and tutorials.

Both bags, I used green quilt binding I had left over for the handles.

Since this is a gift for a good friends daughter, I used some pink and blue trim I had in my drawer.

This was my first bag. I don't care for how the zig zag stitch turned out. But it gave me a good sense of the construction. I use it to hold the cleaned out bags I am waiting to stitch.

Bottom of the bag. I can't wait to try these again. I am working on making my son a lunch bag. Need a trip to the beach or park to drink more juice bags!

LMK what you think, and if you have other ideas for these. I have boys, so not much need for girly purses here.
5  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Boys bowling pants! on: August 09, 2009 07:32:10 PM
I made these bowling shorts, pants and backpack for my son. He loves bowling and wears these things everywhere. I just cut the pants off of pjs that fit him well.

I am so sorry. I am having trouble getting the pictures to attach. I can't delete this so I will try again in the morning!

The shorts and the backpack blend in!
