These are awesome! I would love to try some of these. What material do you use for the applique? It looks like felt.

To make this pouch, you need 6 bags, cleaned and dried, tape, thread and a 12 inch zipper. A sewing machine is a definate plus!

Tape together 3 bags for each side. Taping is not necessary but when I didn't do it, the bag was wrinkled.

You should have this.

Sew bags together on sewing machine. I sew on the top, since it looks better. Straight stitch.

Place the zipper on one of the sides. Zipper face down to the right side of the bag.

I tape the zipper down and unzip to make it easier to sew. Use the zipper foot on your machine. Sew along one side. Starting and stopping about 1/2 inch from the ends, so the sides are easier to sew.

Flip the zipper over and top stitch.

Rpeat on the otherside. Place other side on top, tape and sew, then top stitch.

You should have this now

Fold together with wrong sides matching.

Tuck in the zipper ends.

Sew the three nonzippered sides together. Put regular sewing foot back on machine. Don't forget to back stitch beginning and end! Snip threads.

Place pencils in side and take to school. Ace all your tests and have fun at recess!
Hope this makes sense, I tried to make it basic so even beginners could give this a try. I did not invent or think of this pencil bag. I just saw similar ones and wanted to inspire others to try it.

So I have totally been on a juice pouch kick recently. These are the zippered pencil cases for my sons and nephew.

I made some of them the same (my sons wanted them in their favorite flavor) and some different.

They loved the pouches, but didn't love posing!

Wow! These are fantastic! I can't wait to make one of these. My sons go back to school next week. Teacher told us today that since they have a late lunch, they will have a snack. So I need a set for lunch and something separate for snacks! Glad to see these. Thanks for sharing and for the inspiration. And the earth thanks you for not using and discard all those paper bags and plastic bags. Besides this is so much cuter!
