I'm thinking about starting up an on-line business. It would have a shopping cart and all that sort of jazz, not an etsy or ebay store. I would be making hot/cold rice packs, wallets, bags, and pouches. I also might make knitted scarves. Here's what I was thinking: You pick what you like, and pick one to two fabrics depending on what you want. You pay. I get the form, make up the piece with your fabrics and my pattern, and then I mail out.
I was thinking that I could have a page of "Fabrics of the week/month" of fabrics that you can pick. Once it was all gone, I'll take it down. I might also have the option of picking a "ready and waiting" piece, already made in various fabrics.
Also, I would probably sell some jewelry, mostly guitar pick earrings. And I might stencil stuff once I get it up and running. Do you think this seems too unproffessional/weird/bad? This will not be my only form of pay, and I won't have to pay for the shopping cart software because my dad's got it. Advice, opinions, suggestions? I'll post my notes here so you guys can see the process.
What thinks thee? I say we organze a day when all Craftsters here take their knitting and work on it in public, hopefully with pictures. Maybe if everyone told their blog friends, we could spread it through the internet. How about Feb. 1? Am I crazy?
Retro_Turtle13 has flaked on honorablemention. That makes me mad. What'll make things better is if one of you awsome volunteers would please be an angel. You don't have to be a teen. Many thanks and karma points if you help!
I know that it is lazy for me to just ask you guys, but I really need a pattern for a hat tonight. Well, I would like one, please. I have two skeins of sugar n' ceam (cheap, I know, but it's so nice) and size tens. Do you know of any hats I could make? If not, I'll make the coif from Knitty, but I really want a hat.
My friend and I (Emily, for all you who care) might do our first craft fair! Yay! We're going to make jewelry, and I might sew and knit some stuff. Any advice? We really want to look proffesionally, because we're both young.
OK, I know this has been discussed before, but with the holidays coming up, I wanted to start it up again. So, what would you consider a "no holiday" gift? What would you want to get for Hanukkah? Yule? Winter Solstice? Christmas? Anything else? What would you not want to get for your holiday? What is a truly "all-holiday no religious affiliation" gift?
Hey, I'm messing around with the placement of my stuff in my room, I have a new bed and bedspread, sheets,, etc., and I'm getting my dad's old desk that has been in my family for a few generations, instead of my huge honkin' plywood jobbie. I know what I want, I want in my room: an altar a sort of "reading nook" place to study place to craft computer TV And I have a sewing machine. Any ideas you guys have?
OK, I can't be the only one with half-finished scarves... shirts that never got seamed... costumes I want to make... tutorials that looked so cool... so, what if we had a craftalong? Yeah, I know what you're thinking "Nah, no way, man, we have so much different stuff to do, we can't go it as a craftalong". Well, I thought of that too, me petite amiga. We'll have a general schedual. So, say it si (no, not the metric system- is) shirt month. No shirt you've wanted to finish? No shirt you want to make? That's OK! You could start a new shirt or skip that month. Example that I like: October Make that costume for Halloween you've been procrastinating about. November Work on that scarf/hat/mittens/leg warmers/ w/e winter wear that's been sitting forever. Or, make one you've wanted to. December Finish that shirt that's been sitting around.
OK, please, hear my plea. I need some help planning a murder mystery party. It is going to be around Halloween, I can invite no more than 14ish people, and it has to be pretty low budget. I am twelve (seventh grade), but I want a really good one, not a "murder at the beauty parlor! Like, OMg!" party. I would like one from the 1800's or the 1920's, since I have some awsome stuff, thank's to nushybum! Here's what I need help on: -Where to find the party kit -Some decorations -Foods -Music/ interesting stuff to do -Costumes (may not need this) - Anything else you want to add: expirences, misc. advice, reviews, anything! Please, please, please hel me out! Thanks so much!
