1  COOKING / Dessert / Peach Tart Recipes? on: August 26, 2007 12:32:39 PM
Does anyone have any recipes for peach tart/tartlike dishes?  You know, not quite a pie, but still crust and fruit and other goodness?
2  New York / New York: West / Elmira/Corning/Ithica/Finger Lakes Craftsters Want to Meet Up? on: August 15, 2007 03:35:35 PM
If there are enough of us, and we can decide on a place and time, this would be fun.  We could peruse some craft/yarn/bead stores, go out for ice cream, swap yarn/fabric/finished items.  Anyone in?
3  KNITTING / Knitalongs / Harry Potter and the Order of the Pheonix-Along on: July 18, 2007 06:21:14 PM
Hey, I know there are some great knits in the new Harry Potter movie, so here's a place for us all to work them out together.  If you find any patterns, or write any patterns, PM me and I'll stick them in this post.

I am loving the grey-striped sweater, even though it's so simple.  It's just darling.
4  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / My First Needle Felted Jewelry!! on: May 12, 2007 04:25:20 PM
I just got a needle-felting kit and rovings at a May fest!  It is super fun, but my fingers are bleeding!

I made a pair of strawberry earrings, based on an issue of :Craft magazine.  They look a little wonky in this picture, but they really aren't.

Here is a little ball (it's really round!  I swear!), with dots and beeds.

Hope ya'll can comment!
5  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Discussion and Questions / Help Me Before I Burn My Spindle on: January 13, 2007 10:43:44 AM
Hi, everyone! Today I got my first spindle, and some pretty pink/orange wool to spin.  The only problem is, it has no hook!  It is a drop spindle, with a low whirl and I am having trouble.  I am getting a lot of conflicting advice on how to start, and they all involve a hook?  Can anyone help me make my first yarn??

6  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Make Me A SuperTote Swap on: November 11, 2006 06:27:52 AM
OK, I got to thinking and I was thinking that most of us have a lot to cart around.  Knitting, books, schoolwork, groceries, baby paraphanaila (wipes, binkies, etc.) , dead bodies, crocheting, warm clothing, bathing suits... the list goes on and on!  So, I was thinking, why not have a SuperTote swap?  What is a SuperTote, you ask?  A SuperTote is a big-ass bag that's gorgeous and has enough room/pockets/snaps/handles/anything to carry what you need.  Anyone want to?
7  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Womanly Period Swap on: April 23, 2006 01:48:22 PM
Hi, I was reading the threads for tampons and pads and I was thinking we need another menstruation swap.  I was thinking the main things you would have to do would be: INFORM, ENTERTAIN, HEAL, and COMFORT.  When I say heal, I don't mean like doctor heal, I mean like feel better heal.  Obviously it could not be 18+, but I think that we all could be mature about it.

For INFORM, you could each get a tip or two and send it to everyone as a postcard or whatever.  Decorate it, make it pretty, whatever you like.  That would be PORTION UNO.

For PORTION TWO, you would have a normal swap.  Here are some ideas I had for each of the "themes":

INFORM:
-books that you found funny/interseting/helpful
-tips you learned from others
-helpful websites

ENTERTAIN:
-stuffies of tampons or other period paraphanalia.
-Funny bags to keep used reusable pads in.
-Magazines/books/movies that you like to read/watch when you're on the rag.

HEAL:
-That PMS tea that they sell.
-Handmade pads/liners/tampons.

COMFORT:
-Chocolate.
-Nice bath stuff to pamper yourself with.
-Heat pads/rice bags for aches and cramps.

Whaddya think? Wink
8  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Some Stuff I Made (Picture Plump!) on: April 23, 2006 12:46:18 PM
Wow, this is my first post with pictures.  Yay!   Cheesy  Here's some stuff that I've made over spring break:

This is a necklace made of an old set of airplane wings.  I poked a hole in it like a guitar pick.

This is memory wire with shiny seed beads and a big purple bead from an old bracelet from Target.

This is memory wire with big seed beads and a bead I got for my birthday.

A zipper pull with a fish bead.

Earrings with plastic beads that look like Lifesaver candies.

Earrings with buttons that I got from my grandma.

Long dangly things with plastic beads at the bottom.

Fourth of July earrings.  They are sparkly in real life.

An Amythest, pearl, and silver necklace and earring set.  This is really nice, my aunt and dad like it.

Close-up of the earrings.

Hope you like!!!
9  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / How to Color Lightbulbs??? on: March 05, 2006 05:27:11 PM
Hi, I was wondering if you could help me color lightbulbs.  They need to be green.  Would I use paint, or a coating of somesort, or what?  They will be used for light, also.
10  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Valentine's Day / Small Things to Stick in a Locker on: January 31, 2006 06:23:00 PM
OK, I want to make some small things and stick them in this guy's locker the week leading up to Valentine's Day.  I'm trying to think of small things that are locker shelf sized.  Any ideas??
