1  COOKING / Vegetarian / Vegan / Re: what's for dinner? on: September 07, 2009 12:15:20 PM
Dinner today was tofu in Nando's sweet and sticky sauce in wraps with various salads and dips and dressings!
2  COOKING / Vegetarian / Vegan / Re: Veggie/Vegan School Lunch Ideas on: September 07, 2009 12:14:25 PM
I never have time to cook anything before school, and have too much marking/general lepathy to do anything other than dinner in the evening (watch my blog die on it's bottom during term times) so I resorted to tinned soups or leftover dinners a long time ago.

But when I DO have the time, my favourite's are:
pesto bulgarwheat (or wheatberry) salad
Vegan cream cheese sandwiches with avocado, dukhah and cucumber
Roasted sweet potato and hummus or cheezly and grilled tomatoes (only good if you have access to heating appliances!)
Cold beanburgerballs and mayola

3  COOKING / Vegetarian / Vegan / Re: Vegetarian cooking disasters! on: August 03, 2009 12:54:06 AM
I'm forever having disasters! Luckily my other half eats ANYTHING, regardless of how charred/mushed up it is.

The latest one was when I was baking scones the other day (recipe here!) and I'd asked him to read out all the measurements from his place by the computer.  He mistakenly read 'tsp' for 'tbsp'... and told me to put in 1 1/2 tbsp of bicarb in! I thought it was a bit much at the time but didn't doubt him... I certainly should have! Very very bicarby scones... erlack erlack!

Fantastic work!
5  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / 'Normous shirt to 'reet cute skirt! on: July 31, 2009 11:27:46 AM
Inspired by Laura (Miss American Pie)'s shirt-to-skirt work, I spent my afternoon making this...

... from this!!

Love the sleeves for pockets, I love all my skirts with pockets in.  I picked up this shirt in a charity shop because I liked the option of additional pattern at the bottom to play around with, but ended up not doing anything with it at all!

I used spare blue material from the bunting I made earlier (as our flat overlooks the BIG Brighton Pride parade tomorrow)
6  COOKING / Vegetarian / Vegan / Re: Vegan watermelon cupcakes! on: July 31, 2009 08:19:22 AM
Mild, it gives it a slight sweetness and it has pips in, otherwise you wouldn't know it's there!
7  COOKING / Vegetarian / Vegan / Re: Vegan/Vegetarian resources and information on: July 31, 2009 02:35:39 AM
So many great resources here!

A few months ago I did a craft/cook book swap.  This is the book I made! It's all vegan apart from one recipe that I just haven't been able to veganise, but the person I made it for isn't vegan so I figured it wasn't an entirely lost cause!

I'm hopeless at scrapbooking and graphic design, so it was lots of cutting and sticking and glue all over the table/carpet/fingers/hair/etc...

You can download it free HERE! I'm also in the process of putting recipes up on my blog Vanilla Sugar.

(Incidentally, the server sometimes takes documents off, let me know if the cookbook isn't working!)

8  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / My first three drawstring bags! on: July 31, 2009 01:59:32 AM
I haven't made these since I was eight and preparing for Brownie camp with my mum  Roll Eyes

They turned out really smart, it was Lizi who told me I should do them for India.  They're going to be for my shoes and dirty laundry and things, but I'm half tempted to add some straps and make them into tote bags!

I quite want to find some buttons the same colour as the ribbon on the red/white bag to add to it.

*whoops, meant to post this in the proects forum! Newbie mistake!*
9  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Other Image Reproduction Techniques: Completed Projects / Re: Alice in Wonderland Lino print on: July 31, 2009 01:59:12 AM
I love this! I remember doing these years ago in art at school, I'd quite fancy doing it again!
*inspired...*
