1  Fiber Friday: June 17, 2011 in Spinning: Completed Projects by Catielove on: June 16, 2011 10:58:49 PM
I haven't posted to (or started!) a fiber friday in a long time!

I didn't check the yardage on this, but I spun it really thin and then chain plied it. It's roughly 2-3 ounces from a batt of merino and firestar.

this shows the colors more true to life.

Also haven't checked the yardage of this, but it's 3.3 ounces of black merino carded with a crap ton of sari silk and firestar. My first yarn with a ton of texture. LOVE IT!

I spun it pretty thick n' thin, I wasn't really paying attention to how it was drafting because I wanted it to be fun and carefree. I was watching tv the whole time. Mindless spinning, fun!

Can't wait to see what everyone else has this week!

Wee bit late, but to be fair, I didn't get home until 6 this morning. lol

Merino & Tencel, I believe it's 150 yards. I think this is going to turn into an elf hat for a baby. Smiley

The lack of fiber-y goodness lately makes me sad. Though I haven't contributed much either.

Merino, food coloring dyed, plied w/ thread. 100+ yards? I forget. Cheesy

60/30/10 Merino, bamboo, nylon in 'Sleeping Beauty' from Sheepish Creations on Etsy. Cheesy 130 yards, fingering/lace weight. Hasn't been set yet so I haven't checked wpi.

My WIP this week. Cheesy Merino/tencel This is SO. SOFT. Spinning it up really thin to hopefully get enough for a good 2 ply. Might ply it with some coordinating merino, I haven't decided yet.

SHOW ME YOUR FIBER PORN!

My gorgeous fiber from the amazing SuperHooker!

I absolutely LOVE IT. Green is my favorite color, and blue is a close second. Thank you!

6  Fun Orange Tote! in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by Catielove on: July 29, 2010 12:01:51 PM
I'm on a roll this week. I posted a diaper bag that I made earlier this week. This one is the same basic concept, but instead of bottle pockets, mine holds camera lenses. Cheesy And because it's super huge, my laptop fits in it too! Yay me!

Outside. This one also has another pocket on the back. (It looks a little wonky because I've got a really heavy lens on the left side, and it's weighing it down.)

Inside pockets! One for a lens, one for my wallet (I hate digging for it!) and a pen pocket. To the right, where you can't see, there's another larger pocket for misc. items.

Closeup of the outer pocket and fabrics. You can't tell unless you're really looking, but the main fabric is orange, and the design on the lining is red. They're not too different, so I don't mind. lol

What do you think?

7  The Diaper Bag / Mom Tote in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by Catielove on: July 25, 2010 12:45:32 PM
One of my moms friends is having a baby. And since there are 16 years between her first child and this one, she needs EVERYTHING again. And because I'm super nice, I made her a diaper bag. Only, it could be used as a really big purse too. So if she wants to get a bag that matches her carseat/travel system, she can still use this for something else. Anywho. On to the pictures!

Closeup of lining and the bottle pocket.

Closeup of outside fabric and the "mommy" pocket. (For cell phone, keys, etc.)

Comments/criticism would be appreciated!

Fiber... saturday? Smiley It's been forever since I've posted anything. I had a fight with my wheel and stopped for a long while. Silly really. It's not my wheels fault I can't spin on the fastest whorl. lol (Anyone else have that problem with Babe wheels?)

ANYWAY. Handspun from forever ago, knitting it up finally.

And on my brand new drop spindle, some undyed, unknown origin wool.

I haven't taken pictures of anything I've spun recently. Bad me. BUT, I do have a pic of some bulky 3 ply merino that I dyed and spun for a contest on my blog.

The new owner took the pic. She loooooves it. It was really hard to let it go. Cheesy

10  Re: Spring Cleaning 2010: Fill a FLAT RATE Box; GALLERY send by 5/22 in The Swap Gallery by Catielove on: May 25, 2010 01:37:34 PM
I got my box today!

The whole box.

FIBER!

Closeup of the green. This is so pretty!

Stuffy eyes! I've been wanting some of these because I just started making Amigurumi. THANK YOU!

That's all I took pictures of. I got a few fabric scraps, lots of trims and ribbons, zippers, a couple of metal headbands to decorate, a pair of knitting needles, scissors, pins, and some yarn too. Thank you so much loudxmouse!
