2  how to create an unfinished cast off? in Knitting: Discussion and Questions by punkrockmom on: June 02, 2007 11:50:48 AM
i'm knitting a sweater (bad penny from knitty)  to wear in a pin up photo.
like these gals

my ideas to create a WIP look was to
A) bind off  very loosely and then attach the strand of yarn so it looks likes its attached

B)or thread a strand of yarn through live stitches

3  wwyd w/this vintage dress - its needs tlc! in Clothing: Discussion and Questions by punkrockmom on: May 29, 2007 08:23:47 AM
i have this vintage dress of my mother's.   it was her graduation dress (early 60's).  at one point my older sister added a product called "baubles" to the bust that left a residue.  i thought of covering it with those swarowski crystals not exactly my syle but it would work!).  another other ideas?   plus the whole whole dress needs to be cleaned, should i just wash it by hand sent it to a cleaner?  it feels silky but i dont know the fabric and it was custom made with no tag.  and what about this fold?   maybe  there was a a ribbon from the bow?  i'd love other input!!  on the 15th there's a fudraiser called "the prom for all" and i was hoping to wear it,

4  Re: Come one come all post your new tattoo IDEAS! in Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions by punkrockmom on: May 17, 2007 05:05:32 AM
i hope this is the right place for this.
i have an appt to get a nautical star tomorrow on my left forearm just below the elbow crease.  nothing too big, smaller then a silver dollar,  in red & black.  i have two relatively big tattoos on my back.  but oh my goodness im so nervous about the placement!  on one hand i like it, part of me even likes the idea that i'll have to deal with people seeing it.  but then again i dont know:O   no one has ever "bothered" me about my back tats, so why would it be different with one on my arm? any comments?

hot off the needles- well really the piece the of cardboard i used to make the pompom

it's bernat's camoflauge yarn.  i've found it comes out more stripey no matter how i knit it.   its for my son who is modelling, complete with ironic blaze orange pompom!

8  Re: Show off your hair! And questions about hair styles! in Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions by punkrockmom on: February 13, 2007 01:35:58 PM
ok i have a style question-
is ever ok to sport a mullet? its supposed to be interpretted as a 'rock-n-roll' mom  bending the rules mullet, but even my long term stylist says the world might not be ready yet.
this is the second time he has talked me into it,  i before it wore for 7 months but finally caved after all the teasing.  i might go get it styled later.  please excuse my strange cheese ball smile, i think it comes with the mullet!

my dh is rough on his clothes, and i was wondering if i knit him a hat with cashmere (for vday) if it would it pill with frequent wearing? therefore would the cashmere be a waste?
here's the write up on the yarn :

This beautifully hand dyed 6-ply Mongolian cashmere yarn is 100% luxury from Jade Sapphire. A delight to knit, cashmere yarn will keep you warm from head to toe.
