1  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Pick me up swap (SignUp: Oct. 11-26 @5pm central. Sendouts Nov.22) on: October 22, 2010 10:33:37 AM
I may have to drop out of this.  we just had our power cut and I don't know when we'll be able to pay to have it turned back on.  I really need a swap like this, but if I can't operate a sewing machine or a glue gun, what's the point?  I guess I could try making something for my partner that can be embroidered, like something felt (I love felt projects!) or maybe with paint (but I'm a terrible painter, unless you can appreciate extreme modern art with stick figure humans in it).  I will wait and see and just before the deadline I'll make my decision.  Just wanted to let you all know that I may not be able to do this after all. Sad

I'm definately needing a pick me up. As of late I've been feeling so unmotivated. Not cleaning the house, readings for classes are falling behind, I haven't even been crafting. Just unmotivated and restless.

I know what you mean, I'm going through the same thing.  well, I can't wait to get started.  hopefully, some direction or goal that this swap will bring me will really help.
3  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: Christian Themed Christmas Ornament Swap? on: October 17, 2010 09:44:19 AM
although, now that I think about it, if the one swap I'm in I do felt things (which I love and am so getting into lately) then maybe I can just make extra and turn them into ornaments.  so, I'd now have to say maybe...

9  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Embroidery Hoopla Round 2! (SignUp CLOSED, SendOut 11/15/10) on: October 16, 2010 01:14:30 PM
For the n00bs: even though there's a lot of fancy, cool stitches out there... I've been finding most people who embroider end up using a lot of standard ones. Myself, I use primarily split stitch, back stitch, and satin stitch. Mind, I wouldn't call myself an expert or anything, but I tried for a while to see just how many stitches I could use... I still learn all the fancy ones, but in my actual embroider, I use mostly those three. Cheesy

well, there is a lot of fancy stuff out there, but there are quite a lot of variations of the standard stuff, too, so it looks like something new and unique, but it's just the same old stitch with a twist.  those are fun, and very easy to do once you get the basics mastered.

Ok, I just signed up!!   I hope I can help my partner feel better.  sometimes I get even more depressed swapping here, because my partner's things are so good because they have a shop somewhere and have been doing whatever it is forever, and then there's my pathetic little items.  but, it is only 3 points, maybe I can NOT overdo things this time and just settle for 3 little things, instead of one massive large thing that totally stresses me out.
