1  CLOTHING / Costumes: Completed Projects / Tira Soul Calibur IV Costume!!!!!( LOADS OF PICTURES ) on: August 13, 2010 02:57:33 AM
So I go to most of the conventions here in New Jersey and Philadelphia, and this costume was for Philadelphia Wizard World Comic Con 2010.  I've been following Soul Calibur since the first game, and I was at GameStop the day IV came out to get my reserved copy Tongue.  Talim was my original favorite character, but when III came out Tira beat her out by a long shot!

ANYWAY!! I made this entire costume from scratch.  It took me about two weeks, with many hot glue burns, needle pricks, and glue stains on my clothes later.. came this costume!  Ever bit of it was drafted, cut, sewn, glued and sculpted by myself.  WHO EVER KNEW THAT YOU CAN NOT GET LITTLE SKULLS WHEN IT'S NOT HALLOWEEN!!! (After many store trips later.. I ended up sculpting them myself.)  There are a few things I would have liked to have had more time doing, but I'll fix those at a later time.  The shoes and the ring blade are my favorite pieces. AND DAMN THAT RING BLADE WAS A HASSLE! EVERYONE kept running into it! BLAH!!! The glove armor was so finicky, I really want to find a better way to make them, it was definitely a one time use for those, but it worked for what I needed it to!

I have some rather large tattoos which were pretty impossible to hide, but hey I love my art!

That day I got to enter the costume contest... AND I WON FIRST PLACE!!! WOO HOOOO!!!! It was an amazing end to all of the work I put into my costume!

SO NOW ON TO THE LOADS OF PICTURES!

2  UNITED STATES / New Jersey / I NEED YOUR GUYS HELP! PEACOCK FEATHERS!!!! (south jersey) on: March 10, 2010 08:31:45 AM
So, I'm making these gowns.. TODAY. And I need like 70-100 peacock feathers. But all of the craft stores only sell 2 per pack! It will be way to expensive! Does anyone know of any little shops that may have them in the camden county area or South Jersey in general?

I really need the help.. I've looked EVERYWHERE.

Thanks Craftsters!
3  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Mischief Brew, Alice and more! on: January 23, 2010 07:43:08 PM
I just started embroidering.  I just picked it up randomly. It's not uniform stitching, just testing the waters!
I would really like some feed back!

These were my first two. I decided to do presents for my best friend's mom and sister :].
A fairy.

Ernie.

My fiance really wanted me to do patches for him, and I got him into Mischief Brew, A Punk Folk band. These are based on a song by them.

I'm not sure who did the original drawing of this, but it's my favorite interpretation of the Cheshire Cat.

I decided to draw up chibi forms of Alice and the Mad Hatter :3

4  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Bit of new out of my old. on: January 23, 2010 05:25:52 PM
Hey crafters!! It's been awhile since I've posted some new things, my camera broke so I had to wait until I got a new one! As always I'd love to hear what you have to say. If you have any ideas you'd like to see let me know, I'm always up for a challenge!

This started out as just a normal Andy Warhol shirt that I found, but it needed to be jazzed up a bit, I did so with black lace!

This checkered number started out as a skirt but it flared out at the bottom, it wasn't very flattering, so I turned it into this vest thing.

I really love the rose fabric I used, it was from my mom's old gown, and the top is crush velvet.

Of course hello kitty! My sister in law gave me this Hello Kitty shirt when I got out of the hospital so it's special so I turned it into a dress.. I find them more comfy

This is two pieces, the pirate shirt and the red dress over it. Their meant to be worn together, but I really like mixing and matching Tongue. Plus I love sailor esque things. The red dress was a different sailor dress but the halter top was not cute on me what so ever.

This blue vest i got at Steve and Barry's when it was still open, but it was boring. So I added burlap and I molded polymer clay and made those hearts for it and added some chain. This one has a couple different pictures :].

If you couldn't tell I love red, white and black. ha ha. I'm sure everyone has seen the tux shirt somewhere. Well I merged it into a dress as usual!

So this last one is actually really funny. I love cardigans. this just came into my head, and it is now called the metal cardi. HA HA HA

This was just a boring cardigan, so I added chain on to it!

*BONUS!*
My friend needed a model for a project. It was a 40's pin-up lion tamer. So I made both pieces. I thought you guys would enjoy these shots!

If you have any questions feel free to ask!
Remember! Being a crafter means never being bored! Cheesy!
5  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / YOU TREE HUGGER YOU! ( Tut for Boost-i-vest! pg1 and Tut for dress pg4 ) on: August 07, 2009 10:11:25 PM
I went to Jo Ann's today and found this awesome green fabric in the salvage bin for $4!  I was so excited and had this idea for a dress right away! But then I wanted to add the tree and the leaves.. I looks so much better with them! I love it!

This was a very tedious process for the tree and leaves.. I always do things ten times more difficult then they need to be.. just one of my many traits Tongue.

And I made the vest the other day,  and I just made my own pattern for that :].

Here's the front.

Ze Back.

And a close up on the tree!

Great.. another reason for my fiance to think I'm a hippie! Good thing it's the truth! Cheesy!!!

TUT FOR THE Boost-i-vest !!!!
Okay so, I've found two ways for this to work..  so you can decide which way you'd prefer.

First way!

1. Measure your rib cage all the way around, right under your breasts. ( mine is 28'' )
2. Now divide that measurement by 2. ( I got 14'' for mine )
3. Now measure where you want the top of the vest to sit below your breast and how long you want it to go. ( you can make it go to your hips or end of your waist, but I made mine a bit shorter.  Mine was about 6 1/2 '')
4. Lay out your fabric and measure out your first rectangle. ( mine would be 14'' long ways and 6 1/12'' wide) Cut out that rectangle. LEAVE SEAM ALLOWANCE! [ give an inch or so just in case! ]
5. Now use that rectangle and trace it onto your fabric and it out for your second rectangle.
6. to make sure you have a way to get IN your vest you cut your second rectangle in half. This will be the two front panels. One for the buttons and one for the button holes.
7. Measure out how long you want your straps to be and cut out long rectangles.
8. Now you can pin all of the sides down on all of the rectangles so you have nice edges all the way around and sew that.
9. Now you'll have to pin the vest panels together and sew them.
10. Figure out where you want the straps to sit and sew them into place.
11. Once you make your button holes and place your buttons on the front panels you can wear it!
http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b389/SeeKataraRun/IMG_4187.jpg

2nd way to do this!
1. Measure your rib cage all the way around, right under your breasts. ( mine is 28'' )
2. Measure how long you would like your vest to sit ( mine was about 6 1/2'' )
3. Measure how long you want your straps to be.
4. Now cut out your very long rectangle and straps ( leave seam allowance just incase) ( mine would be 28'' LONG and 6 1/2" WIDE )
5. Now just fold down the sides of both the long rectangle and the straps "like a hem" for smooth edges.
6. So now all you have to do is add buttons on one open side of the long rectangle and button holes on the opposite side.
7. Don't forget to see where you want your straps to sit! Then just sew them in place!
8. If the vest does not sit with your curves, just flip it inside out and pin it to your curves and sew it right there!

I hope you like!

So I was bored and decided to make my step daughter a dress.. She calls it her pirate dress Tongue.

It was made out of an old express skirt for the striped fabric and the anchor and the other fun things are made out of felt and there are a few rhinestones. :]

She only wanted to be in a picture if I was in it with her Tongue

BUT We caught her off guard and got an action shot Cheesy!!

Hope you like it!

Keep on crafting!

7  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / New Creations!! MuHahaha (IMG OBESE!) on: August 06, 2009 08:05:38 PM
So you have entered my lab? BEWARE OF THE LARGE PLETHORA OF PHOTOGRAPHS!!! Muahahaha..

Cough..

Okay, So anyway.. I have a sweet spot for Horror, and just weird things so many of my things are strange and not quite cookie cutter.. So if you are interested in recreating something feel free to ask any questions! I can surely try to draw you out a patter to follow.. or if you're like me... You'll wing it !  I love comments, let me know what you think!

Don't mind the mess with in the pictures, I never said my lab was clean! Tongue

Front of the Bride Jacket.. with a tulle veil hood.

That's embroidered :].. And I painted the little stitches for detail!

Zee back!

Front of Bride dress.. I made this bigger. ha ha

ZEE BACK! ha ha

Sorry for the angry look! ha ha. My fiance was taking the pictures and kept saying, "whose the photographer?"
This is the front of the Werewolf of Catholic High Dress.

Zee back.. Also made bigger. Tongue.

Another Werewolf dress, I think it looks funky and I love it! :]

My bra is ALWAYS hanging out.. Go figure Tongue.

I ended up buying a few of these shirts in all different colors and I love how it turned out. It was originally a size XL for guys.. just a Graphic T. :]. The back is just plain white.

I hate buying Tank tops so I just made this one.. I used an scarf and a Dead Boys band shirt I had laying around. The back is just ties :]. Again sorry for the DEATH STARE! ha ha ha

Pretty intense to get this to go through my sewing machine, but here's the front!

Back of the circus "steam punk" esque skirt.
I also made some hats!! This is my new past time Tongue.. They are modeled by my fiance ( and one myself ) ha ha.

I call this the SQUIDDLY hat :]. It has a hook in it's mouth like it was caught ha ha.. This is more of a girls hat unless you are a guy with dreads!

This was made for my brother's birthday. (NJA means New Jersey Assholes) Yes I'm from Dirty Jersey Tongue.

HAHAHA I hope you get a laugh at this one, I made this for my friend's 9 year old niece. Tongue You know I had to put him in this ha ha ha!!

This is the Dilbert hat.. It's like he is chomping on your head :]. The blue parts are ear flaps, but it's also made to look like drool. I know it's silly, but I drew a character that looked just like him :].

Hope you liked everything!

KEEP ON KEEPIN' ON.. and Crafting of course!

8  CLOTHING / Costumes: Completed Projects / GIRL Zombie Wolverine Costume. on: July 28, 2009 12:01:45 PM
Hey everyone! So this is my first post. Grin

I am in a burlesque troupe called, Rigor Mortis Revue, and we have to go to all kinds of crazy Conventions and dress up to promote our performances! And of course everyone comes to me to make their costumes, so that's what I do mainly! (As soon as I get some pictures of my GIRL OPTIMUS PRIME costume I will put it up ASAP!)

We are based out of Philadelphia, PA and of course we go to the AMAZING COMIC CONS! I made a Girl style Zombie Wolverine costume for Wizard World 2009!

Instead of doing a yellow and blue long legged and long sleeved jump suit [ WAY TOO HOT! ] I made a mini skirt and a vest like top!  To make most of this outfit is REALLY EASY! I'll put some pointers in towards the bottom!

Also, My costume and I were also featured on CBS3 NEWS! This was really funny to show my family, which of course does not understand why I love to dress up Tongue!

My idea of Wolverine's battle face ha ha!! I really love this outfit.

Here's a side view and close up of my custom made claws! They only fit my hand :]

Just another close up of the costume.

AND ONE OF THE MANY BATTLE PICTURES TAKEN! I thought this was so funny! And you also get to see a full length shot. [ Yes, I actually walked up to him and asked him if he wanted to battle Tongue! ]

BY THE WAY.. MY SEWING MACHINE IS BROKEN! So.. You'd probably have an easier time if yours is WORKING!
I made this costume for about $10. I drew out many ideas first on how I'd want this to look to make it more girly, and making it look right for myself [ which you might want to do for yourself.] I went to goodwill like ALL crafters know to do, and searched for the correctly colored LARGE MALE T-shirts. In this case Bright Yellow and Blue.  I personally prefer draping and making my own shapes on my mannequin.  So I made a vest like top with a zipper in the front, and a basic mini skirt with a zipper on the side.  I started both pieces with the yellow shirts.  Afterwards, I added the blue, and added the blue semi-circles to the skirt.  This was just for a likeness to Wolverine's outfit.  I have a million leggings so I just used solid blue leggings and yellow fishnets.. which were then ripped for a more ZOMBIE feel.

My Father in law is a welder so I got lucky with the claws. He made me those while he was at work and they are designed to fit only my hand... But for you, you could probably buy them online [they're expensive], OR you can find tutorials on YOUTUBE! We used gauze to wrap around the claws and my hand not only to make them stay on but to give it a cool look :].

Get a black belt you fancy, some combat boots, add and details to your taste, throw in a crazy hair do, do some blood splattering, and zombie make-up of course.. AND YOU'RE DONE!

I hope you enjoyed, I love comments and crits!
Like I said, I hope to have some pictures of the GIRL OPIMUS PRIME costume up soon! So look forward to it!

Happy Crafting!,
