11  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Tunisian crochet tote bag? on: May 27, 2010 05:35:15 AM
I decided I'm going to learn tunisian crochet... I would like to make a tote bag. Are there any patterns out there?
12  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Can anyone that knows how to freehand or just design patterns help me? on: May 12, 2010 03:12:46 PM
I am trying to make a tote bag. I have scoured the multitudes of free patterns and haven't found anything that would be useful... I am trying to make a tote bag for my Orchestra music folder. I have specific dimensions I want so that's why I decided I would just make my own. Well, it's not going well, AT ALL. I have frogged countless times. I just can't seem to get it to come out how I want it, and to me it's seemingly simple!
Anyway, if anyone can help me I'll give some info. My folder is 14 inches tall and 12 and 3/4 wide... I want to give some clearance on the sides and on the top, so I was thinking it should be about 13.5-14 inches wide and 15-16 inches tall. I was hoping to do it in one piece, in the round, like the Bernat market bag is done (but not the mesh style design of the bag.. something more solid). I just don't like how the base on the Bernat bag looks angled; it looks like a canoe kinda. I want the bag to be done in sc or hdc. I have a special idea planned for the middle area of the bag that I wont need any help on..... but it's just getting the thing started I am having trouble on!! Can anyone help me?

15  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / need ideas, can anyone help? on: October 11, 2009 05:59:42 PM
Hi all- I want to make something for my mom for Christmas... she seems the one that would REALLY appreciate something crocheted from me. Anyway, my mom is an earthy, spiritual kind of person. I don't want to make her any clothing as I would have to ask her measurements and all that.. I am thinking more of accessories or whatever. We live in Florida, so I dont need anything heavy/thick for "winter months". A bag might be good, she carries a book and lunch with her to lunch at her work. Can anyone help? Thanks!!
16  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / anyone know how to make this, a pattern perhaps?? on: August 28, 2009 12:05:11 PM
I love Gene Kelly movies, and was watching "On the Town" today.... Ann Miller's green dress is just *fantastic* ... Im a very very novice sewer but does anyone know of a pattern for this dress, and what materials it would use??? Here's a link to a youtube video of it...   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AM4L38u5vpE   .... thanks!!
17  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Hi, I need a pattern can anyone help? on: August 09, 2009 09:17:48 PM
OK... so I got a BOX of yarn at a yard sale for 1.00 (my 1st AWESOME yarn find!!!) anyway, I feel I have enough yarn now I can start on my "massive good deed project" which is to make slippers for elderly folks in the nursing homes in my area. I need a quick and easy (I'm kinda a beginner, let's say adv. beg.) pattern that would be kinda one size fits all? My problem with slipper patterns I've found so far is that they are complicated or require you to have precise measurements.. I would like to make something that I can just say "these are for ladies, these are the size ranges I have .. these are for the men, etc..."   So can anyone help me out?? Thanks!!
18  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / need help w/ my craft table on: August 05, 2009 03:53:57 PM
Hi all...I've had this table for a few months now... It was apparently a computer table, but I use it as a craft table.... I needed a long table for when I make my no-sew fleece blankets/pillows. Well, it is very ugly... it is this dull gray laminate top and it's flaking and peeling (I got this table free on FreeCycle)...... I want to do something to make it pretty and feel more like a craft table... can anyone throw me a few suggestions to make it look pretty, more like a craft table, and still flat and smooth so it still functions as the table??
