1  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Whedonverse Swap round 9 gallery on: September 29, 2012 07:12:41 PM
Everything in this swap has been so awesome! I especially love "the status is not quo" embroidery.

I love it so much! I've actually been hoping for some rain just for an excuse to use it!!

My hubby kinda twisted the wire up a bit so it wouldnt hop on the bottom, now it is a smoother movement and it still works fine! This is seriously like the coolest thing!

Awesome! I was so glad that the light still worked. Electronics always seem to just break around me. I'm really glad you like it and that he was able to tweak it! I've been getting so much use at work out the wrist warmers you made - and many people at my job giggle at the mug, even if they don't catch the reference Smiley

A cactus? Oh my. I think we should set up a permanent infirmary for this swap.

Now that my halloween swap is done, I can focus all my energy on finishing this swap. I have all my supplies, except for a crucial ____ for my small. I hope it gets here soon. I have a back up plan, but I really want to make my first idea. Medium and Large are mid-way-ish both. I will probably be sending out exactly on the send date.

Wow, this thread just explodes when you don't check it often.

I am totally loving all the shared recipes!!

@ patty-o-furniture: I totally love that pi bracelet! It's just the type of jewelry I like to wear, and I like how subtle it is in it's geekery. And... can I come live in your craft room?

@ ttarsia: I think that shawl is beautiful! I really need to knit more.

@ lightninglisa: I could not stop laughing at that image!! I think I may just have to use it for my pi assignment!

@ tiamatfire: I think you should totally sell the pattern!! You may consider it dead simple, but I am not a good enough knitter to figure out how to make something like that by looking at it! But I can follow a pattern well enough to make something that's more advanced. Even if only a few people buy it, that's still money you didn't have before. Smiley

@ the_essence:

AllyCatAria - wow what a good idea! I don't watch Firefly but it looks great! Where did you find the base?

Thanks! Actually, my mom (also a huge Firefly fan) had seen it while shopping. I had her grab it for me. I think it was either kmart or target? I'm not sure. But it was in the toy section.
6  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Completed Projects / Whedon Stencils - First ever try on: September 21, 2012 08:32:58 PM

So this is my first ever freezer paper stencil for my partner, thehappycrochetchic, in the Whedonverse swap.

First was the Jayne bag. I love how the hat came out.

And heres the other side of the bag. I was a bit concerned because I wanted the letters to look really perfect, and I was glad that they stayed really crisp, even when it seemed like the freezer paper wasnt completely sticking down. I am super in love with this bag and have to make myself one when I feel up to cutting out all those little pieces again.

And heres the sleep mask I made for my partners Buffy side. This is probably the smallest I will ever go with letters. It was really hard to get the little pieces inside the a and e letters to stay in place while ironing.

Over all, I am super-duper pleased with my first foray into freezer paper stenciling. Although its really time consuming to cut out all the little pieces, and it stinks if one piece goes missing, its a nice repetitive and calming craft. I cant wait do to more. I already have a bunch of ideas for future projects using freezer paper. I just wish you could reuse the stencils.

8  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: 13 Days Of Halloween Mini swap Round 4 (SU-July 10-25; SO Sept 30/12) on: September 21, 2012 11:10:48 AM
It's torture having this box of goodies from bunny1kenobi staring at me. I am exercising extreme restraint.

All of my days are most of the way done. Some of them require drying/setting time, which causes me to hop to the next one. I'm having a hard time staying within the small requirement. So there are definitely some items that are not considered small. It's been a bit of a pain having to take breaks to give my neck and hands a rest when I'm in the zone.
9  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Whedonverse Swap round 9 gallery on: September 21, 2012 10:14:27 AM
I do love everything! I figured out the Firefly jar, when I got it this morning I had just woken up and I though it was just a jar with a piece of fabric with a bow, there was a little battery operated wire that moved around...i showed my hubby and i was thinking it was suppose to be something but i could not figure it out! I unwrapped the fabric thinking it was tangled since it didnt move and it was a little serenity ship on a wire, when you turn it on the tail lights up and it flits around, I feel sooo dumb for not figuring it out sooner! I think it was a product "Pet Firefly in a Jar" that she added a clay ship to. it is super original and creative not sure if I can get a good pic of it though, I will try tomorrow!

Thanks Again Ally!

Thanks!! It was a lot of fun to make! But it's really hard to get pictures of it since it moves.

I have some here:
