Hi, I'm troublet. I'm addicted to making pin cushions.

Hi troublet.

I found a tute yesterday morning for soda pop top pin cushions. Now, I have 5 with plans for more. LOL! These little numbers have made me remember just how much I enjoy hand sewing. Unfortunately, I'm not really sure what I'm going to do with these creations as none of my RL friends sew. Possible swap material? Dunno...

Anyways, here goes!

The pink cupcake was my first attempt. I was just beginning to wrap my brain around the concept and pattern. Then came the sunflower as I started playing around with the size and shape of the pop top. I might add some dark brown beading around the center to make it pop a bit more.




And, here comes the insanity which is leading to addiction.

I originally made the red 'shroom on a lark. My son pipes up saying "Oooo, mommy, make the green mushroom next!" so I did. After dinner, my husband says "All you need now is a goomba or your project won't be complete." I did and he was right. The goomba is my fav so far.

I'm relatively new to Craftster and need some advice.

I've been making pin cushions and 3 of them are based on cartoon characters. Do I post pics here or in toys? *scratches head*

I decided to try making tooth pillows this past weekend.

The boy's monster design came too me quickly but the girl's design took forever to come to me. I guess I need to sacrifice more Godiva to my Creative Muse. lol




To tuck in the tooth, you open the monster's mouth and the purse flap.

It's hard to believe but I actually have craft books that I no longer need/want. Is there a place on this site to do swaps for craft books?

I did check out Craftster Swap and didn't see anything specific to books.

This is my first attempt at making a stuffed animal. Spot was made from a glove and is dressed in my son's favorite colors.

Is there a time limit on how old a project is when it comes to sharing your work here?

I'm new and I have several older projects that I'd like to post but I don't know if that's permissible.

I'm very excited to have joined this forum. I've been crafty all of my life but have never had many people to share my creations with until now. I look forward to learning, discussing and sharing with you all.

This site is HUGE! I've been on many message boards but this one is taking me a while to learn. You'll see mostly in Bath and Beauty, Cooking and Needlework. I've finally become brave enough to share my first project in B&B if you are interested.

As for myself, I'm a happily married and the mother of two kidlets. My son is 8 and my daughter is 3. When I'm not in mom mode, I'm a high school foreign language teacher. I love to read, sew, cook, garden, and obviously Create!

Troublet

(This is my very first time sharing a project so if I mess this up, please throw chocolate at me! )

As Fate would have it, I have a daughter. Now, I know that sounds odd, but I don't understand girls, especially uber girly ones. I was a serious tomboy and never allowed my mom to dress me in frills, lace or pink. Now, someone upstairs is laughing because my daughter (3 1/2) is turning into little Miss Diva! My Mother In Law picks on me saying that I won't know how to dress her like a girl.

This project was to prove her wrong! lol

I don't know what happened. I started making them and it became an obsession. She loves all of them and gets excited when I drag out my craft bits now. "Is that for me mommy?!" with the innocent batting lashes.

Anyway, enough of story time. Here they are!

I've done traditional fruit preserves and now, I'd like to try my hand at some different flavor combinations. Before I was into canning and preserving, a friend gave me a jar of strawberry champagne preserves. Holy guacamole, but it was tasty! Unfortunately, I haven't found a recipe to recreate it. *sigh*

Do any of you make preserves? Any cool flavor combos?
