Oatmeal stout is one of my favorites. Post a pic when you finally pour one! Smiley

(We seriously need a drooling smiley!)

Try felt crafts. Low cost, low stress and low mess factors. Felt is very forgiving to work with and very versatile. She could do holiday ornaments which are small enough projects that it also wouldn't take forever to make. Smiley

I will keep your mother in my thoughts.
4543  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Re: Any other maillers, chainmail artists in the group? on: August 22, 2009 10:33:31 AM
I don't personally do maille, but you might have better luck sticking your head in to the jewelry forum. I've seen a couple of pieces over there. Smiley

How lovely! I might have to try something like that for my daughter's birthday. Smiley

I LOVE this!

I too have had loved ones who were taken from us due to cancer. I stand with you all. Fuck cancer!

This could make an awesome challenge theme. Isn't February breast cancer awareness month?

That is an awesome birthday gift!

Great job on the transformation. Smiley

Absolutely fantastic job!

Great fabric colors as well. Smiley
4548  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Re: Sewing Class Projects on: August 22, 2009 03:52:49 AM
A jewelry roll would cover basting, buttons/buttonholes and/or zippers. It wouldn't appeal to any men taking the class though.
4549  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / quilting with flannel? on: August 22, 2009 03:49:36 AM
I'm still noodling the idea of making my dad a lap quilt. He has poor circulation in his feet so I want the material to be super warm and soft.

Is it possible to quilt with flannel? If so, is there a specific weight of fabric that I should use?
4550  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Re: Chili Recipe Help for Preseasoned Chili Meat? on: August 22, 2009 03:46:49 AM
I agree with pinokeeo. If you try an unfamiliar recipe, then it could really throw your flavors off. I would make your normal recipe and hold back on spices until you see how the venison's spicing is going to affect it. Then, add in spices slowly until you get what is yummy.

I wish we could buy pre-seasoned venison here. I guess my DH will just have to go hunting soon....darn! Wink
