4511  CROCHET / Projects from The Happy Hooker by Debbie Stoller / My 1st Happy Hooker Hat! on: September 02, 2009 06:19:43 PM
I just finished my first hat and I LOVE it!   Cheesy

It's worked in half double crochet through the back loop. I added the spike stitching because it looked sort of plain and then added the tassels.

My daughter (3.5 yo) has already asked for one. I might make one for a stocking stuff since it doesn't get really cold here until January.

*insert happy Troublet dance here!*

Close up pic and an actual pic of the top of my head wearing my creation. If I show any more of my face, your monitors would probably melt. LOL!

4512  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Holiday Helpers Swap ((Signups from 8/18-9/3)) on: September 02, 2009 02:24:13 AM
Is this deadline going to be extended? I had seen some mention of that I think...
4513  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Christmas Stocking Swap 5 on: September 02, 2009 02:23:14 AM
Oh shoot. I would love to do this swap but I don't think I can get my current (and very first) swap completed and receive my feedback in time. Sad

My husband doesn't do the stocking thing for me either. *sigh*
4514  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Re: Christmas 2009, what are you making? on: August 30, 2009 01:23:48 PM
I'm starting a Christmas craft course on Friday - so excited!! Should get some good ideas there Cheesy

What fun! Come back and tell us what you learned. I've always wanted to sign up for a class like that. Smiley
4515  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / a purse for my DD from "Santa" on: August 30, 2009 12:42:46 PM
I made my first purse today with what I had laying about, with the exception of the lining fabric which screamed at me from the fabric section all the way in the back from the second that I walked through WalMart's doors. It sat on my craft table for a couple of days before this project came to me. Maybe my daughter was using mind control on this one. LOL

I made the flowers last night while she was awake and used nap time today to finish up the purse. In all, I think the flowers actually took longer than cutting and sewing the purse. I'm thinking about adding some pearls along the seam on the front flap or maybe some quick embroidery. That visible seam bugs the heck out of me.

Anyway, here are the pics...

The color isn't quite right in this one. It's actually a very light lilac, not blue toned.

And for the lining that called to me...

4517  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Re: One holiday gift completed! (my first large piece of crochet) on: August 30, 2009 12:30:54 PM
Not a chance...I've been thinking Christmas since we were driving back from our yearly vacation to WV just after the 4th. I'm a high school teacher and if I wait until the end of October to get my act in gear, life becomes unbearably hectic for me. Smiley
4518  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Re: Get off my lawn! on: August 30, 2009 10:15:07 AM
Absolutely hilarious! lol

4519  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Re: One holiday gift completed! (my first large piece of crochet) on: August 30, 2009 10:13:40 AM
I forgot to add...I have developed a dislike of the triple crochet. It's a pain in the arse when it comes to thread tension. Bleh.

They are both just beyond cute.

I'm relative new to crochet. How did you get the furry look? Is that a specific type of thread or technique? (If that is the "hairy" thread that I have found really scary, you might have given me a bit of courage! Wink )
