1  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / Re: Beaded Mosaic plaques...What do you think?! Lots of pics!!! on: December 31, 2009 08:55:04 AM
Thanks for your comment.  I have a technique for the problem of the seed beads going everywhere.  (Although it is not very sophisticated at all.)  I have a little container with the beads on it and I use a toothpick with glue on it to pick one up.  Then I place it where I want it.  The container is actually a little round salt thing that people used to use when eating celery or something else to dip into the salt.  (That probably doesn't make much sense now that I have typed it out!)
2  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) / A couple ATCs that I made... on: December 28, 2009 10:17:18 AM
They aren't very good, I am afraid. I was just goofing off the day that I made them. I have made better, but I don't have any pictures of those right now.  I need to go on a photo taking spree and take pictures of everything I have made!!!

Thanks for looking!!!

Just some of my beaded mosaic thingies I have done lately...

Seeing it this close I realize I need to repaint the letters.  You can still see black on a few of them.   Sad

Thanks for looking and any input would be appreciated!

4  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Re: Photo tent photos...need input please! on: December 28, 2009 07:13:21 AM
First of all-thanks for all the comments!  I noticed too that the second one is too dark.  I lightened one up and will post it in a minute.
Second, I will take pictures of my photo tent in a little while and post those too.  (With a few instruction too.  You can google 'photo tent' and get a lot of results.)  Mine is actually a small cardboard box with white paper.  I might remake it though so that it would be collapsible.
I am not sure how I would get more light behind the object.  And I am not sure about my screen being calibrated.  How would I know?
Thanks again and keep the comments coming...
5  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Re: oh so monotone, 3 hour scarf on: December 28, 2009 07:04:07 AM
I like it!!  I have been looking for ideas to make a scarf.  I already have the yarn.  I have started it twice now and ripped it out when I didn't like it.  I just make it up as I go too.  I can never seem to follow a pattern...
6  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Photo tent photos...need input please! w/pics & instructions on how I made it! on: December 27, 2009 06:03:30 AM
I finally broke down and made a photo tent.  I actually made two-a big one and a little one, but so far only have had success with the little one.  I just grabbed random things to test it out so ignore what the pictures are of.  I would love c&c!  I think they look decent, but I am also on a netbook and maybe they are not.  I noticed that I really should have brushed off the lens cap before trying to take a picture...
Anyways, here are the pictures!  I plan on taking pictures of actual projects and will post links to those too.
Thanks!!

Here is one I lightened...

Here are few more that I took last night.  I really like the one with the rocks.  (Random things, remember?!)

Here are the pictures of my 'photo tent' even though it is really a box!  This one shows the whole thing with the lights in place.

This one is just one of the lights.  I got them at Walmart for $5 or $6.  The two lights were the only things I bought for this project.  I had everything else...

This shows the inside of the box.

It is not the prettiest thing to look at, but it gets the job done.  I did have to mess with my camera's setting to take the pictures.  It just wasn't working on the auto setting.

So here is what I did...
I took an empty box and just cut squared out of the top, and two sides.  I then taped white paper over the holes.  (I did have the paper taped on the outside, but I then moved the paper to the inside.)  I then cut a piece of poster board to fit inside the box to curve inside the box.  Added the lights.  I have tried it with one light on the side and one light on top and I think that works the best, but have also put a light on each side.  I even have held on in the front and that works ok too.  Basically that is it on the instructions.  Like I said before, just google 'photo tents' and there will be lots of information too.  I wanted to make one with PVC pipe, but no money to buy it with right now!
Thanks for looking and input!!
7  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / Re: Some of my attempts at bracelets and other things...Image heavy. on: October 09, 2009 12:18:37 PM
Thanks WildeHeart for your kind comments.
Thanks AmySculpturalBeading too.  That's a good idea to ask people here about fasteners for the woven ones!  SO...
Does anybody have any idea how to finish the woven bracelets or is it too late since I already took them off the loom?  I do have a fastener thingie on the second one, but it doesn't look right.  And the third on is long enough to tie.
Thanks for any replies!
8  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / Some of my attempts at bracelets and other things...Image heavy. on: October 07, 2009 11:40:42 AM
Just some things I have made lately.  Ironically I don't even wear jewelry!
First paper bead creations.

Woven bracelets that were fun to make, but don't fasten quite right.

A macrame keychain and bracelet with paper beads.

Beaded hair clips.  I can't even wear those because I have baby fine hair and they won't stay in!

A bracelet made with seed beads.  I got the idea from someone on here, but don't remember where.

Same bracelet--different pose.

Another bracelet using same technique.

Anyways, what do you think?
9  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / Re: beaded wire bracelets - with tutorial!! on: September 26, 2009 07:45:33 AM

Here are my version of this great tutorial.  The last one I made recently with paper beads--the rest I made a while back!
10  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / My First Post of a 'Believe' beaded thingie... on: September 26, 2009 06:48:45 AM
Hi, I made this back in the spring.  It's just a piece of balsa wood (I think)  with seed beads spelling out "Believe".  It took a lot of time--now I just don't know what to do with it...
C&C welcome!
