So, my girlfriend LOVES octopi!
So I made her Olive, the Octopus, for her birthday. She cried!  The pattern is from World of Knitted Toys.

2  Need swallow tattoo pic to screen in Screen Printing: Discussion and Questions by slick on: July 04, 2005 11:23:22 AM
Hey lovely craftsters,
I've seen some cool swallow tattoo stencils, but have not been able to find one to use for a silk screen.  Does anyone know where to find one to use?
I'm just looking for something like this:

I'm NOT trying to have the exact same image...just some variation to work with...

Thanks a gizillion for any possible help!!!!

4  Re: New favorite yarn - Malabrigo Merino in Knitting: Discussion and Questions by slick on: March 11, 2005 09:07:29 AM

Also, just a note: I got the "handspun bulky" (not the "merino bulky") and isn't as soft as the merino. I should have expected that, but I can't help but be a bit disappointed since my hands have gotten spoiled by the buttery softness of the merino.

Oh yeah, none of them have a vinegar smell. I guess my last order was just a fluke! Smiley

Hey vpop,
Glad you're happy with your yarns, but I know what you mean about the handspun bulky.  Because it's not soft like the merino, I can't wear it. BUT...might I suggest felting with it?  It knits up so fast and the colors felt beautifully.  Here's a clutch I did with purple gold.  It created its own cool pattern again:

Two new projects in the lovely handpainted yarn:

bpt from knitty in pagoda (I'm not one to mind color variations--I like them actually!):

and a herringbone scarf in oro y vino:

Here it is:

I used the pattern from here preg_replace('/(.{19})/', '$1 ', 'www.sheepinthecity.prettyposies.com')/archives/000079.html and a lovely hand dyed yarn from handpaintedyarn.com!  The dying is random, but ended up making almost an argyle pattern!

7  my cabley hoodie in Knitting: Completed Projects by slick on: March 07, 2005 12:22:09 PM
I recently finished my version of knitty's bpt:

The pattern is here:
http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEfall03/PATTbpt.html

I really loved this pattern and can recommend it because:
  • you knit the whole thing in one piece...no seaming!
  • the cables are easy--I'm very new to cables and found them easy to do.
  • the pattern is easy to follow once you get going.  And tons of people have already knit it, so there's lots of help on blogs
  • I think it's a great cardigan hoodie pattern and it's free!
I used pagoda from handpaintedyarn.com and love the color variations!  Wink

Thanks again for the great tutorial!  I finally made mine...orange corduroy with a green felt bird on it, and I use it every day!  Smiley

Thanks to both of you, beastbunny, and spillyjane, for the awesome tutorials!!  I took a wee break from working today to make my first one, and I think it's pretty, though I need to work on making the petals a little more even!  Smiley

I LOVE how soft their yarn is...usuallly, I can't wear wool right next to my skin, but I can with their merino.  Here's a scarf I made out of the carrot!  I really love the uneven color and it's so soft...I made it all out of one skein, which made it cheap too!  I can't say enough good things about their yarn!  Smiley
