1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Turtle Neck to T-Shirt on: February 21, 2010 11:39:20 AM
I have a turtle neck that I want to make into a t-shirt. Seems like it should be easy enough, because all I want to do is cut of the sleeves and give it a scoop neck. My question is, what kind of stitch should I use for the neckline and sleeves? I asked my mother, and she said I wouldn't be able to do it without a serger... But would a zigzag stitch work? I've read a few t-shirt alteration tutorials, and haven't really seen anything about what stitch to use. Any help would be appreciated, as well as any other general advice you could offer about t-shirt alterations. Thanks!
2  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Book to Trinket Box on: July 24, 2009 02:09:07 PM
Started with an adorable hardback book from Goodwill.

It had illustrations which I ripped out before I started cutting...

Now it's a box!

Action shot!

I used this tutorial:

I made one change, though. My knife started to get dull so the edges were messy. I decoupaged the cut out pages on the inside of the box to cover up my mess.
3  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) / Live Trade Advice on: July 24, 2009 11:24:08 AM
I want to arrange a live trade session with some people I go to school with, and I'm not sure where to start. I was wondering if anyone who's either hosted or been to live trades had any advice for me. I think only one or two people that I'm inviting are familiar with ATCs, and I've never done a swap/trade myself.

Does anyone have advice for turning a hardback book into a trinket box? Specifically, what is the best way to cut into the pages, and how can I stick all the pages together?
5  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Little Goodwill Cabinet on: July 22, 2009 03:09:21 PM
I found a cute little cabinet at goodwill, and I'm trying to figure out what to do with it. It's been painted white with daisies on it. It's cute but not really my style (and it's also covered with crayon scribbles...). I can't decide how to fix it up, so I'm consulting you good people! I'd like to do something more creative than just painting it. Any ideas?
