3  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Peace Be In This House... on: June 16, 2014 07:05:58 PM
I came across this gorgeous pattern off of Pinterest. As I am looking for items to make for our (myself and the bf) new place. Its going to be in a rustic decor with brown, turquoise, teals and beige colors. Luckily for me, the whole pattern was on the site, not just one page. I did some research and the pattern is by a gentleman (his name escapes me right now), there is a book of his art made into cross stitch patterns. I think it came out MAGNIFICENT!! Now I just need to find the perfect 12x12 frame.  Grin

4  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Completed Projects / Over Painted Kitchen Hutch Makeover... on: May 22, 2014 09:25:10 PM
My boyfriend and I love finding vintage pieces of furniture and other antiques for our home.
We have found a couple of thrift, consignment and antique stores we frequent every week or so for my crafty fix.
I saw this adorable kitchen hutch posted on our thrift stores fb page. I had to go see it, hopefully it was still there.
I had a vision for it to become my new kitchen hutch for our glassware.

BEFORE:

I ran to the local Home Depot where I looked at paint sample colors for about 5 minutes (yes, that quick) and found the 2 colors I was going to re-paint this with.
I fell in love with Behr's Botanical Tint (main color) and Behr's Pastel Jade (lighter color).

AFTER SANDING & FIRST COAT OF MAIN COLOR:

Two coats of Botanical Tint paint dried over night. I then found these very pretty Fleur-de-lis stencils. Stenciling it took some time. The first time was botched. The stencil moved and it was a hot mess. After re-sanding the area and painted anothe coat, I tried again real slow with a small paint brush. All 3 stencils took 45 minutes, but it was worth it. They came out flawless. I then re-attached doors and screwed in the lovely 8 beautiful glass hexagon knobs, found also at Home Depot. All in all about 5 hours for this makeover. Mostly dry time for paint. I completed it in 3-4 days. I'm very pleased with how it came out.

AFTER:

Thanks for looking. This was a fun find and makeover. Can't wait till I get my next piece to work on.   Grin
