11  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Re: alice in wonderland dress??? on: December 12, 2010 08:01:18 PM
I second the tutu recommendations.  Tulle is really easy to work with, since it doesn't ravel, and it's super cheap.  Get some and play with it.

The top (there really isn't much of it, is there!) looks like a doily with a ribbon sewn on it.  You could collect some old doilies and piece them together (or sew them to a tank top you like the shape of) to make a less revealing top.

Those are super cute, especially the first one.  It's definitely fifties housewife and also kind of Wizard of Oz-ish without being too cutesy.  I've often thought that girls dresses would be super cute chopped off at the waist, but I don't have that kind of waist. Tongue
13  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / Re: Reconstructing clothing and labeling them for sale. on: October 29, 2010 03:54:41 PM
Interesting question, but I have no idea.  Angry  Maybe you should drop by the Crafty Business Advice board?
14  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Re: It's a homemade wedding dress! on: October 25, 2010 10:30:47 PM
Love this.  I hope to make my own wedding dress someday, so it's always nice to see that it can be done.  You look fantastic in it.

Wherever did you get that lace?  I want.

The gecko earrings are so cute!  Are those peyote?

This such an awesome rendition.  I like that instead of trying to faithfully reproduce the impossibly delicate and impractical movie version, your version is modern and clean.  It suits you perfectly.

I love every single one of these projects - both the artistic, impractical ones, and the modern, stylish interpretation of skinny jeans and the exposed zipper dress.  I think my favorite is the jacket.  Love it.

I usually don't like these, but these are very well done - I like the shape of the neckline, and I like the empire waist.  The belt is a nice touch.  Maybe I will make some of these for summer - they would be perfect for the miserable weather we're having.

Congrats!  I've been meaning to do this for ages.

Is that Miasu's contour bust dress?  That is quite the frock of the moment in crafty circles.
20  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Re: fleece reflective kitty ear hat - fail on: June 07, 2010 05:44:06 AM
Too bad the sizing didn't work out.  I really like the reflective ears - I bet horns would be super cute too.
