21  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Boxing trunks? on: January 13, 2007 09:43:29 PM
Surely one of you craftsters has sewn boxing shorts? I'm kinda interested, esp. since i searched and couldn't even find a sewing pattern for them. Anyone?
22  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / engineers cap from readymade on: January 04, 2007 11:40:11 AM
Has anybody tried the engineers hat from the free "pattern" in the last readymade. It looks very simple. Until you realize their pattern pieces are not the right size. It's driving me a little nut-so trying to tweak into working.

This is the top part and the bill and then they tell you to make a 24x4 1/2 inch strip for the band.
Grrrgh.
23  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Discussion and Questions / What to do about messy embrodery back on: December 03, 2006 12:25:51 PM
hi.
I'm embroidering some tea towels (in drool inducing color) for my mom for christmas. I've done a fair amount of embroidery however not on something where the back is easily seen. Do you guys have tips, for neatening up the back at all?
24  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / Question about double needles. on: November 14, 2006 07:29:32 PM
A friend recently gave me an old Singer 7033 and lots of extras with it.
I don't get the double needles. Where is the other spool of thread supposed to go?  In the book they have a picture of the extra spool holder thingy which i don't have but even if i did I don't see where it would go.
Please help as i want to try the needles out on a sweatshirt pattern i've got. Thank you thank you
25  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / help with mantle/headboard? on: November 01, 2006 05:32:28 PM
I have this old mantlepiece from my grandfathers house. I've stripped it and i think it would be cool as a headboard for our bed. I'd like some opinions on what to do with it. I'd like to lighten the color- you can't stain things white can you? Maybe a crackle off white paint. What do you all think?

as you can see my bedspread is red, it would be nice if the mantle complimented it as well.

26  CLOTHING / Clothing for Curvaceous Craftsters: Discussion and Questions / swimsuits for the busty yet modest on: June 26, 2006 11:00:11 PM
I told my friend i would help her make a swim suit with more coverage. She's a DDD and is embarrassed by the amount of boob-age showing with store bought suits. Any good patterns you can recommend?  I think she's interested in a tankini-type suit or other 2 piece.
27  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / themed mixtape swap on: February 28, 2006 08:59:07 PM
okay. I can't stop the swapping.
I've tried.
But i really NEED to do a mix tape swap so:
I would like to do a swap where we pick say 3 or so themes and our partner makes and decorates a mixtape on one of those themes.
for example:
1.songs to make me pedal harder up those seattle hills
or
2.robot dance party
or
3.happy hour

but here's the thing. I just organized my first swap and it was somewhat messy and i'm not real eager to leap back into it. So if anyone else is willing to organize, Wonderful. Or i will organize but make it a very small swap say 6 or 8 people.
what do you think? Am i too demanding?
28  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Completed Projects / snake charmer on: February 15, 2006 01:29:09 PM
I made this for the side show swap. My partners recieved so i can post this now.

It's the first time i tried a bleach stencil and was pretty impressed with the results.

I painted the details of the face and hair with acrylics after.
