11  Oregon / Oregon: Northwest / PDX newstands with good craft mags? on: April 11, 2007 10:40:46 AM
Are there any good local newsstand/ magazine shops around other than Powells? I'm specifically looking for crochet mags and this gorgeous textiles magazine I just found called Selvedge.
12  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / loop-d-loop crochet on: April 09, 2007 10:39:36 AM
I just wanted to say I am waiting with baited breath for this book. I hope I won't be disappointed.
13  CROCHET / Projects from The Happy Hooker by Debbie Stoller / Prepster sizing question. on: April 03, 2007 08:50:44 PM
So i'm just starting the prepster and I'm wondering about the sizing. If my bust measurment is 36", should I make the 2nd size- the finished 36" measurement or should I go one size up to 40"? I'm 6 foot and have broad shoulders so I'm having a hard time believing that the next to smallest size is the correct one.
14  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Instant tweed? on: March 26, 2007 07:48:10 PM
What is that thread-stuff called that you can use with your yarn to give it a tweedy look without upping the gauge of the yarn itself? I'm not having any luck searching for it.
15  CROCHET / Crochetalongs / DORMANT: matinee swing jacket-a-long (with pattern link) on: March 06, 2007 10:38:55 AM
I'm getting ready to start this jacket from the free Lion Brand pattern.

Anyone else up for it?
I'm pretty new at this crochet deal and I'm going to try to sub Knit Picks "vacation" yarn in Sunshine. Does this seem like a feasible substitution?
Anyway I think this jacket is cute and y'all should make it with me.
16  CROCHET / Projects from The Happy Hooker by Debbie Stoller / yet another short n' sweet question! on: March 02, 2007 10:19:06 AM
Okay. I'm new to crocheting but I've been racing along the back part of the short n' sweet. I started the right front, but i'm not sure I'm doing it right. Instead of the shell pattern being indented like on the back it is now popping up. Is this right?/ make sense?
I don't want to go to far if I'm doing it backwards. It would be most excellent if someone could post a picture at the shoulder seam. Thank you thank you thank you.
17  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / Painting a table with no brushstrokes? on: February 22, 2007 10:56:03 AM
I just got a coffee table off Craigslist that I want to paint. I have tried this before but I wasn't happy with the way the strokes showed up. I want a nice smooth surface. Does anyone have tips for this? Also what do you guys use to strip the finish off, or should i just sand it? I have used this Strip-eze gel junk before and it was a lot more work than promised. Anyone?
18  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / post apocalyptic clothing swap? on: January 16, 2007 06:36:54 PM
Would anyone be interested in this? It's pretty open to interpretation i think. Testing the waters, I could organize a small swap towards the end of febuary.
19  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / tree bookcase. on: January 15, 2007 10:12:21 AM

It doesn't seem like it would be too hard to make (Not that i'm a carpenter or anything.) What do you all think?
20  CLOTHING / Costumes: Discussion and Questions / Who's making mardi gras costumes? on: January 13, 2007 09:54:42 PM
Anyone? I'm all fired up 'cause i get to go back to New Orleans this Mardi Gras and see all my favorite people and have a kick-ass time. I think we're going to try to do a "killer bee" theme. I can't decide if i want to do a fighter pilot- avaitor hat/ goggles, scarf  bee- thing , or if i should Bee agresive with yellow and black trunks, boxers robe and gloves. Anyone else have costume plans?
