1  CLOTHING / Sewing Pattern Reviews / Calvin Klein, Voguw 1940 Anyone made this? on: January 28, 2010 08:55:37 AM
http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=28678932

I bought this pattern years ago but never made it. I'm getting married this June and am considering this for my dress, (shortened a little and with cowboy boots). I can't find any reviews or completed dresses for this pattern. Can anyone help?
2  HOME SWEET HOME / Exterior Decorating / Yard Art / Gardening: Discussion and Questions / Zen Fire Garden on: March 06, 2009 02:07:50 PM
Does anyone have any info or websites on how to make one of these? Where what ever you draw burns.

I can find a guy selling kits, but am more interested in the process. Anyone help me out?
3  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Reverse short row shaping- knittys 1930 on: May 19, 2008 07:39:48 PM
So I'm making the cute taps pants from knitty's 1930.
http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEsummer04/PATT1930.html
I'm using cascade fixation so they should be stretchy and comfortable. This is my first time doing short rows though. I banged through the left back panty but now I'm to the short rows on the back right. How do I do reverse shaping on these? Is there a way of carrying the yarn? What can you tell me? I didn't have any luck googling this. Thank you thank you in advance.
4  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Knit 1 beaded helmet. on: March 30, 2008 08:57:00 PM
This hat will be part of a space girl outfit. I'm working on the bikini now. I'm also planning on making a matching beaded holster for my zap-zap ray gun.

There are like 1100 acrylic pony beads!

It's the first non-scarf knitting project I've finished. It's actually the reason I started knitting. I kind of love it. What do you think?
5  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Beaded helmet Fall 07 knit one on: February 27, 2008 05:25:46 PM
So I'm making the beaded helmet from the fall issue of knit 1. It's pretty sweet-like a retro space girl hat.
This is the first knitting in the round project i've done so maybe i'm missing something but the directions say:
with dpns, cast on 12 sts and divide evenly over 4 needles. Place marker and join for knitting in the round. K 1 round.
Rnd 2 and all even rounds *K1, k1-bead; rep from * around.
Rnd 3 *k1 tbl, kfb; rep from* around---18 sts.
How is it i keep only having 16 stitches at this point? does joining for knitting in the round somehow make 2 extra stitches?
Please help! I really need a space girl hat.
thanks.
6  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / loop-d-loop clover fan jacket on: September 30, 2007 09:40:43 PM
I guess I've never had to sew up seams before and I'm unsure how to do it neatly. The pattern just says sew cuff seams, and then starts instructions for crocheting the rest of the sleeve in the round on top of that.
In other patterns in the book there are instructions to single crochet seams together, is this what is called for? Or perhaps i am supposed to slip stitch it together? How is this usually done?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I can't wait to finish this!
7  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / crocheted jabot? on: August 08, 2007 11:06:37 AM
I'm looking for a crochet jabot pattern. The only one they have on crochet pattern central isn't quite what I'm looking for. http://victoriancrochet.com/freepatterns.tpl?cart=

I want the whole big lacy Victorian looking deal. Any ideas?
8  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / another mini top hat. on: August 05, 2007 06:51:39 PM
so i joined the club and made a mini top hat, modeled here by an annoyed looking Audio cat. It's my first one, so it's a little wonky but overall I'm pleased.

10  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / AAAAAAHGGGHHHh! help with my Singer please! on: April 16, 2007 09:41:05 AM
I have an 80's model Singer 7033. I'm halfway through a project when the bottom thread started bunching badly, big loops and snarls using 4 times the amount of thread as the top. Now I can't get it to do anything else. I looked at some trouble shooting websites and it seems like it may have to do with the feed dogs. But I don't  believe I can raise or lower the dogs on this machine. Now I remember why I haven't sewn in a couple months.
I am so frustrated. It's not the tension, or at least not something I can control with the tension. It's doubly annoying, because I had the machine serviced not long ago and they said everything was working fine.
Do you all have any ideas? Or should I lug it into a fix-it shop again?
