1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Bette Davis Style Dress on: October 20, 2014 06:43:16 AM
This is most definitely the hardest thing I've ever made!
I accidentally cut the pattern pieces too small but luckily my friend is a model and it fit her perfectly!

2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Opera Cape on: September 23, 2014 01:21:32 PM
The irony is that I have never been to the opera!
This was probably one of the hardest things I have ever made as I was following a vintage pattern but I'm really happy with the result. It's also the first time I've sewn in weights, which is surprisingly easy. Although it doesn't look it, the fabric is extremely lightweight, yet the cape retains lots of warmth, an added bonus!

I am obsessed with the shiny lining!

It's inaugural outing was to the tower of london for a private evening tour and the 'exchanging of the keys' ceremony, a 750 year old tradition for locking to tower at night, exciting!

3  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Autumn Floral Dress on: July 26, 2014 12:46:51 PM
I had a relapse of cancer June 2013 and didn't hem this badboy before I went into hospital. I won't go in to detail but I had a pretty crappy time and its taking a very long time to recover, HOWEVER I have been getting my energy back and FINALLY hemmed this dress and added a large bow at the back because, well, I wanted a dress with a bow on it!

I adore the fabric, it's so cute!

I made the bias binding myself too  Smiley

5  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Pink Spotty Dress on: December 23, 2011 01:16:29 PM
So this is a pinky/mauvy with white spots fabric that I thought might make a nice dress... So I made the dress and I like it Smiley
It has a green embroidered ribbon attached to it around the waist to tie around in a bow...
I'll probably make this again, next time I'll have the waistband a bit lower because it was slightly over my ribs and makes me look chubby!
Anyway here it is...

For a christmassy look I paired it with sheer white spotty tights and fur trimmed boots...

& Yes, I do need to iron the hem and I will as soon as I get an iron Smiley

6  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Baby Blue Daisy Skirt on: December 11, 2011 12:52:52 PM
I love lace. It's official!
I found some lace with daisies on it and immediately knew which fabric to pair it with and what to make!

I made this from adapting a pattern I used for my african print top...

8  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Ethnic Top on: September 27, 2011 08:54:27 AM
I made a top out of some fabric my Aunt & Uncle brought me from South Africa!
I LOVE the print, I think the fabric is beautiful!
I used a free Burda pattern that I printed off at home:

http://www.burdastyle.com/patterns/basic-bodice

It was pretty annoying sticking the pieces together because the lines were very faint, so I went over them in a Sharpie pen first and then cut out and stuck!

The bodice has darts, front & back but is very simple and easy to make

I used bias binding for the neck and arm holes and inserted an open zip in the back...

10  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Floral Gathered Skirt (Briefly Written Tute) LACE :D on: September 13, 2011 01:37:13 PM
So I've been ill the past week and a bit with what my doctor thought was pneumonia - it wasn't! Just a really bad chest infection.. Anyway.. I was up at midnight making this skirt as I have turned nocturnal, I hemmed it this afternoon and voila! A verry poofy gathered waist skirt - No pattern used! It's really simple to make...

- Cut two rectangles from a piece of old vintage fabric my mum gave me and sewed them right sides together
- Finished the open seams with a zigzag stitch
- Rolled one of the long edges over leaving a small gap to insert elastic
- Cut the elastic to the size I wanted and threaded it through using a drawing pin
- Sewed the elastic together
- Sewed the hole closed
- Sewed a (rolled) hem
- Wore it Smiley

As you can see, it is VERY short! I am wearing a pair of shorts underneath and I'm hoping to buy some pretty lace to sew around the edge at the bottom to give it more character and LENGTH!

I added the lace!

C&C please!!
