12  Floral Gathered Skirt (Briefly Written Tute) LACE :D in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by rosieeee-x on: September 13, 2011 01:37:13 PM
So I've been ill the past week and a bit with what my doctor thought was pneumonia - it wasn't! Just a really bad chest infection.. Anyway.. I was up at midnight making this skirt as I have turned nocturnal, I hemmed it this afternoon and voila! A verry poofy gathered waist skirt - No pattern used! It's really simple to make...

- Cut two rectangles from a piece of old vintage fabric my mum gave me and sewed them right sides together
- Finished the open seams with a zigzag stitch
- Rolled one of the long edges over leaving a small gap to insert elastic
- Cut the elastic to the size I wanted and threaded it through using a drawing pin
- Sewed the elastic together
- Sewed the hole closed
- Sewed a (rolled) hem
- Wore it Smiley

As you can see, it is VERY short! I am wearing a pair of shorts underneath and I'm hoping to buy some pretty lace to sew around the edge at the bottom to give it more character and LENGTH!

I added the lace!

C&C please!!

14  Red Dress <3 in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by rosieeee-x on: June 10, 2011 08:54:17 AM
Well, I first saw Gabby (from desperate housewives) wearing a dress like this in an episode so I decided to make one, my way...
Made my own pattern for the bodice, made up the skirt as I went along, decided to use an exposed zipper (partly because it was the only one I had!) It was also an open zipper too, so I had some trouble trying to make it so that it wouldn't come apart when I undid it... Yes, I know what you're all thinking! Why not just go out and buy a zipper?! Because i made this dress on a whim over two nights after college :p

Without further ado...

16  A Reversible Nightmare! Pic Heavy.. in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by rosieeee-x on: November 30, 2010 11:32:00 AM
The idea behind this was to create a reversible dress for a busy day so if i couldn't go home and change and i had a party or a gig that night i could just go to the toilet, turn my dress inside out and be ready to go..! one side is a casual side and made from some vintage fabric of my grandma's and the other side is shiny and pink Smiley
theres a slit in the side too.. And ruffle sleeves..

I had to cut my face out of these piks cause my hair was seriously scary!

Hope You Like it Smiley

17  Bubble Tutu Tutorial (Edited) in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by rosieeee-x on: July 13, 2009 04:00:44 PM
Well i decided to make a tutu but then it was too long so i folded it up and it looked like a bubble thing, So anyway here it is...!

Sorry for the messy room...!

&& Heres how I made it...

So first you tack/loose stitch along the top of the tulle (or chosen material) and tie a knot at one end.

Pull the thread and this should start to gather the material. Tie a knot to hold it in place.

then you should be left with the beginnings of a long tutu...

Next, you fold the bottom upwards and sew onto the elastic
Elastic should be cut 1-2 inches smaller than your hip measurement.

Sew the open seam and you're done!
(Because I didn't want the seam showing, I hand sewed it, otherwise it can be done by machine.)

Ta Daa Smiley
