1  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Hang On Little Tomato on: January 06, 2013 06:13:49 AM

One of my girlfriend's favorite songs is Pink Martini's "Hang On Little Tomato."

I made this sampler as a gift for her.  Because love.

If you want the chart, it's on my blog at http://contentedreader.com/2013/01/06/hang-on-little-tomato.

2  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / This is my happening, and it freaks me out. on: July 23, 2012 12:58:12 PM
I used a quote from the movie "Return to the Valley of the Dolls" and a pattern from the Antique Pattern Library, and I made this.

I put the chart up at my blog if anyone wants a copy of it.
3  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Re: The things that make us happy make us wise on: September 06, 2011 03:30:05 AM
This is very sweet. What did you stitch it on?? Linen?? It's lovely.

It's some sort of cotton/poly blend I got for a quarter at a yard sale.  Not what I'd usually buy, but it does have a nice linenlike texture.
4  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Re: Taste the Rainbow (yeah, creative, I know) on: September 05, 2011 04:50:12 PM
I love it- it comes through as a sort of explosion of inspiration and color, and your stitch work is lovely.
5  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / The things that make us happy make us wise on: September 05, 2011 04:46:07 PM
So, I made this.  The quotation is from Little, Big, John Crowley's fabulous novel about family of people living on the gateway of the world the fairies come from.  The image is from the Antique Pattern Library.  The chart is on my blog if you'd like it.

6  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Money Can't Buy You Love (PG-13) on: August 13, 2011 10:32:45 AM
Here's the romantic sampler I've been working on.  I think it might make a nice divorce gift.  The text is from Beau Sia's poem, "A Little-Known Truth About Financial Success."  If you want them, I've put the charts on my blog.

7  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Re: Hyperbole and a half on: August 02, 2011 05:59:04 AM
I love Hyperbole and a Half!  You did a great job of translating the art into needlework while keeping its weird charm intact.  I liked 'I am mortal' best.
8  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / May Cthulhu eat this house last on: July 30, 2011 05:51:01 AM

I made this for a friend's housewarming.  The image is a stylized version of her new house, the caption is a reference, as I'm sure you already know, to the elder god who will inevitably rise from the sea to plunge the world into horror and madness.  Perhaps I should have wished for her to be eaten first, and spared the nightmares that await, but my friend is something of a procrastinator.

I don't suppose the charts will be of much use, since this piece is sort of specific to my friend's actual house, but if you want them, I've put them on my blog.
9  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Re: Ugly suitcase into a Sweetcase! on: December 28, 2010 04:13:04 PM
Wow!  Props to you for having the eye to see the potential in this suitcase.  It looks utterly transformed!
10  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / E-Reader case on: December 28, 2010 04:05:32 PM

I made this case for my Sony Pocket Reader out of a copy of a Lemony Snicket book.  I did feel a little guilty about killing a book, but my guilt was eased by choosing a popular book that I already own (with the words in).
