21  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Discussion and Questions / Re: bead ejimication. on: April 04, 2006 01:40:24 PM
Just reading Fire Mountain Gem catalogs is educational (and fun, and drool-inducing).

Those would look striking with amethyst, garnet or even onyx and silver beads - maybe some of those neat Rajasthani beads that Fire Mtn has now?

There's the challenge, right? 5,000 coats of clearcoat later....

Yeah, no kidding, particularly before wrapping it in tissue paper to mail it!  Maybe I'll just make a bubble-wrap bag for it, less opportunity for disaster.

OK, mine is done, and I like the way it turned out - I hope flamingofuzz likes it.  I'm just going to let it sit today and make sure it is 100% dry, and then it will be on its way tomorrow, I hope!

25  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / Re: Votive & Pillar Candles on: March 13, 2006 08:28:10 AM
The glass votive holders probably get hot enough (with a lit candle inside) to cause the adhesive on a regular sticker to melt off.    On the other hand, it may be that they're meant for decoration, not actual use.    I'm guessing that t-shirt transfers probably require too much heat to be safely used on a candle.

It's actuallly illegal in some places.  Here (Atlanta), I've seen it at ACE Hardware and at Wal-Mart (I think).
