1  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Log Cabin Playmat on: April 19, 2012 11:59:34 PM
I needed a quick, easy project to work on while my husband was overseas for two weeks.

Here is my version of the Baby Log Cabin Quilt, as found on sew mama sew

Took one night to piece, and about 6hours for the spiral quilting Smiley
2  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Owl Quilt on: February 06, 2012 01:22:46 AM
Just finished this one, made completely from stash!! I bought the owl prints a few weeks ago but had no real project in mind. I had a request for a quilt for a new baby whose parents love browns and greens Smiley

My first time using a bamboo batting, and I backed it with a chocolate coloured fleece. It is so soft and snuggly, I will definitely be using it again Smiley

C & C welcome

Thanks for looking!
3  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Christmas Stockings 2011 on: December 19, 2011 04:21:58 AM

4  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Sock Monkey(s)! - another pic added ;) on: November 28, 2011 03:06:46 AM

I cant remember what started it, but I had a sudden interest in making a sock monkey! This one is my daughters, she showed a real interest when I was researching sock monkeys online so it was a little 'bonus' birthday pressie last week Wink

I found the socks at a local shop, bargain price of 4prs for $6AUD.. I really just wanted these fun stripey ones, I may or may not make the others into monkeys too Wink

I used an online tute, they are everywhere, apparently the style has been around since the 1920's

Let me know what you think x

5  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Mandrake !! on: September 28, 2011 06:31:02 AM
As part of a wish list discussion before the latest Aussie swap, oodelally mentioned she would like a "knitted mandrake" . Me being a HUGE Harry potter fan, and sometimes knitter, commented about how cool it would be if there was a pattern out there for one... Next thing I know, a link was posted !!

http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/mandrake-plant

I loved the way oodelally's mandrake came out, I ended up making 3!

Was a very easy pattern to do, even a very slow knitter like me could make one in a day or two Smiley

6  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Quick Quilt - only 7 seams!! on: April 09, 2011 06:22:42 AM
I made this for my nephew, started after work yesterday and finished midday today!

2 fabrics, only 7 seams in the top! Letters are appliques done on the machine on felt, then 'quilted' onto the solid panel.

Size is 100 x 120 cm - 40in x 48in

Would have been quicker to finish, but I do like the look of a hand finished binding Wink

Fabric is Alexander Henry 2D zoo if anyone is interested x

7  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Baby Showers And Gifts For New Babies / Girly baby stuff on: March 06, 2011 01:07:26 AM
Thought I would show a few things I have made for my little girl, who is due in 10 weeks Smiley
Mostly easy crafty items ideal for gifts!

Unintentionally, I seem to have an 'owl' theme, with mainly green, lavender and pink colours (with lots of white!)
The Quilt

The blanket

The Change Mat/wallet

Hat and Mittens

Bib

Im thinking a few more blankets and some 'burp' pads still need to be done - will see how i go for time Smiley
8  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / "D" ring problem... help! on: February 08, 2011 01:54:14 AM
So Im not much of a bag maker, and have never used 'd' rings before..

I am making a black and red bag for my sister, and could only manage to find silver d rings at my local craft shop. I was really after black Sad

Has anyone ever painted them, eg with an enamel paint or something similar?? I have no idea if it would actually work or not

Or is there a great online place to buy these sorts of things? I am in Australia, so would need to have international shipping.

Here is a pic, just so you get an idea of what I am on about (even in the pic, the silver looks way too blingy )

9  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Chibi Dolls! on: December 19, 2010 02:29:20 AM
I made these 'chibi' dolls for christmas pressies for some little girls I know. The pattern is from oneredrobin

Started to make 4, ended up with 7!!

The owl design came with the pattern, these 3 I customised with some machine embroidery designs I had

Thanks for looking!

10  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Stripey Lap Quilt on: October 10, 2010 02:39:02 AM
I made this quilt today and I love it!  I started making a pattern I found on oh!frannson, but only did the centre stripey blocks - the quilt was getting a bit too big!

For the backing, I used a black/white bundle of FQ's I have had for ages, as well as the scraps left from the quilt top.  Im thinking I like the back more than the front now!

I finished it off with a label, as it is for a wedding gift next weekend.
