12  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Harley Quinn Costume Help on: September 21, 2009 03:35:38 PM
I'm making my own Harley costume from scratch sans pattern and I'm curious if anyone can help me with fabric ideas and how much of each kind I would need. Plus tips on making the horned hood. I live in Philadelphia and would like to buy the fabric in person so that I can know what I'll be purchasing. Anyone in the Philadelphia area able to help out with where in Philly I can buy some nice fabrics. I want more of a metallic look so I was thinking about going with either lame, vinyl, pvc, or some type of wet look/metallic lycra/spandex blend.

I would also like some help with her shoes, she wears flats and I was wondering if anyone knew where I could get flats like hers.

So me and my best friend are going to the midnight showing dressed up, I'll be Luna and she'll be Hermione, I'm having some difficulties with my sewing machine so I don't yet have my robes but she does. I made them without a pattern =) I'm pretty sure I did a good job

I also hemmed her skirt. =)))
18  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / Help! My sewing machine is making tassels! on: July 11, 2009 02:52:16 PM
So, I'm sewing a robe for the Harry Potter midnight showing THIS Wednesday/Tuesday. I going to be busy tomorrow so I obviously need to get this done ASAP however for some reason my sewing machine refuses to work right! I'm not sure why I've tried changing everything I could, I've inserted/removed the bobbin about 50 times it feels but nothing changes. I've taken photos of what the machine is doing, I've had the problem before but it just sorta rectified it's self last time. I swear the machine hates me and is begging me for attention and feels that it would be suited to make tassels instead of stitches! What do I do!?

Because I just joined I can't post any pictures yet so here are the links to photos of what it's doing.

That's what the stitch looks like ontop

However underneath it looks like this!

And that's the evil little devil who made me all my tassels D=< I have since decided that it's name is David Michael Tasseltoff.
