1  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Daisy Scarf and Orange Tabby Hat on: August 28, 2008 02:19:50 PM
A friend asked me to make a hat for her sister and a matching baby hat for her sister's baby-to-be.  She wanted them to look like orange tabbies.  I didn't get a pic of the baby hat... will post that eventually.  For now, here is a picture of me modeling the mama hat. The baby hat is identical (well, smaller, but same stitch and border) with the addition of earflaps and ties that look like cat tails. Both are my own design (ie, improved)... but there are tons of cat hats out there in knit and crochet if you are looking for a good pattern.

The second item is a daisy scarf I made for a friend of mine that loves to wear warm oranges and yellows.  I used a daisy square pattern found here:  http://www.geocities.com/granniegroup/Delightful_Daisy.html?1002301595350 and just stitched them together and added a border.  I changed the daisy square pattern a little bit-- but that's mostly because I hate following directions.

More info is on my blog... http://oneflewoverthecrochethook.blogspot.com/
thanks for looking!
2  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Cinderella - Almost Done! on: December 14, 2007 07:53:36 AM
Here is a nearly complete Cinderella Topsy Turvy Doll of my own design/improvisation. I am giving it to my niece for Christmas and it will be her first doll
My sisters and I had one that we all played with when we were little girls and that doll which is long gone was the inspiration for this one.
I made her with brown hair, though, since my niece has brown hair. I think every little girl likes to have a doll that looks a little bit like them.

I am going to change two things on this design - redo the tiara on the glam side (it currently looks like a sweat band a la Olivia Newton John) and I'm going to add a broom to the Cinderella in Rags side.

I hope you like it!

Here she is in "rags".

This looks a lil weird & perverse-but it shows how the doll works.

Here is her "glam" side. Ready for the ball. I'll try to post another pic when I fix her tiara.

Here are some extra pictures if you feel like seeing more of Cindy...

3  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Girly-Girl Bunny on: November 30, 2007 12:13:02 PM
Hello!

I'm putting this up for adoption during a silent auction to benefit the flood victims in Mexico...

She's incredibly girly and very, very soft.

Thanks for checkin her out!

4  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Crocheted Chicken Viking Hat on: May 24, 2007 07:22:47 AM
I didn't follow a pattern... just sort of winged it (baaa dummmm dummmm chiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii ing).

Hope you find it fun and silly.

You can't see it, but at the end of the ties, I made lil wishbones.

I used Bernat baby yarn so it's super-soft...

I chose to not make it pink like the others... so it's like a cooked chicken.  More because pink didn't really work for this guy.

5  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Completed Projects / DithMer Saved My livingroom! on: March 28, 2007 07:13:15 AM
I had been looking for ways to add color to my institutional white walls without having to repaint at moveout time, when I found Dithmer's awesome room http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=151134.0

I went to Hobby Lobby and found that books of scrapboooking paper were on sale - 50% off.  So, I was able to get 300 sheets for $10.  Whoot whoot!
Because I didn't have the variety that DithMer had on hand... and I was determined to get started... I decided to make a quilt of a checker pattern - solids and patterns.  Each square would have at least one color of all of the squares that it touched.
Here's a close up of the quilt:

Here is a wide shot of the wall:

and here it is from the front:

The lamp and small table were also from Hobby Lobby - 50% off.  I love  love LOVE the sales at that store.  The papasan was from a thrift store for $15... I bought a new cushion for it, though.

So, once I had my wall done, this green couch started too look a little out of place.

I went over to Hancock Fabrics and got some colors that coordinated with the wall. I got some pale blue and some really silky pink flowered fabric.  Realizing how much it would cost to get fabric to cover the entire couch, I stopped over at Bed Bath and Beyond.
There I found a slipcover on clearance for $25.
I recovered the pillows using the fabric.  The two brown pillows with blue stripes I bought earlier.
Pardon the wrinkles... I took the picture before I realized that the slipcover needed to be ironed.  I'm also planning on using a staple gun to secure it down.

So now my room is much prettier. The only problem is that my scrapbook paper is buckling a bit.  I used double-sided tape.  Per Dithmer's suggestion, I'm doing to do the rolling of the tape thing instead.
Wish me luck.

As a friend of mine said, "Holy Color, Batman"
awww...
6  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Chicken Baby Hat - now on Cute Baby on: February 09, 2007 01:29:09 PM
I posted this in the show and tell forum and they suggested that I put it here...

Good timing!

Here is my Chicken Baby Hat.  Own design... kind of odd... and oddly cute.  (cutely odd?)

The "stuff" hanging down are ties that go under the baby's chin.  I made them as "legs" with the feet at the end.

UPDATE:
By request, here is the grumpy chicken perched atop the head of a babe... he might be extra grumpy because he is far too small for such a big noggin' She's a little too old for the hat...

but you get the idea...

7  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Chicken and Frog Baby hats - image heavy... on: February 09, 2007 12:33:40 PM
Kind of creepy ... kind of odd... but kind of fun... why not?

Pretty much anything looks cute on a baby, right?

8  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Sewing Patches on Leather Jacket? on: January 04, 2007 09:49:16 AM
Hello,

My friend wants to sew some bad ass patches on his leather jacket and enlisted my help.  Sewing?  No problem.
Sewing Leather?
Yikes!
I have been looking stuff up online and it seems possible- but I really don't want to wreck his sweet jacket.

Any tips?
Ideas?

Thanks!

9  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Hip Labels for Handmade Clothes? on: December 04, 2006 08:37:55 AM
Hello,

I craft as do 2 of my sisters.  We're looking for a hip, fun label that is like these: http://charmwoven.com/page.html ... But more "us".
Has any one seen personalized labels that aren't so "sweet" and granny?

Thanks!
10  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / HP Lovecraft Fans? Cthulu amigurumi on: September 11, 2006 10:20:25 AM
Hello!  I posted this on crochetville, too - but I figured there might be more Cthulu fans on here Wink
I am not a Sci-Fi reader, but one of my coworkers totally is. He's obsessed with the classics - especially HP Lovecraft and this character/god named Cthulu. He's been working like crazy on a project for me and helping me immensely. In the meantime, he hurt his back and has a pinched nerve- and is attempting to work even though he's in a lot of pain

Anyway, I wanted to make him smile, so I looked up cthulu on wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cthulu and decided to crochet a version for his desk...
Here are the pics... I showed him "creeping up" on my cat to make it more interesting.

Thanks!
