Great job! Haha my beginnings in crochet looked NOTHING like that!  Be careful though, it gets addictive to make all kinds of little amigurumi things and then you have an army and have NO idea what to do with them! 

this is awesome! My social values professor in University read this story to us in class one day before we had a make our own children's book about a choosen environmental issue. He was obsessed with the Lorax.

Awesome!!  I think I might be slightly obsessed as well   It's really a great story about the environment.  The problem is, I think its a little too advanced for young children to grasp.  I know I just loved the story and movie they made when I was little, but I had little to no understanding of the lesson.  It wasn't until I got older that I understood that... but then again, my love of the story made me revisit it and understand its meaning, so maybe the intention was fruitful after all...   Sorry, rambling!  Enjoy the pattern!

Its a GF hook, but I think a G would work just as well.  4.00 or 4.25.

I'll keep an eye out for some Dr. Suess patterns for you... there aren't very many out there!
