1  Birds and Poppies in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by Threaderella on: January 11, 2010 02:21:16 PM
So I got on a mixed media kick on pumped out these two things. For the first things I've ever really done, I'm really proud!

Poppy Secrets

This piece consists of fabric from an old skirt, vintage paged from Victorian adult novels, white out, fishing line, and little faux pearl beads. No glue was used, everything is sewn on, and then the string is taped to the back of the canvas. Because the oil paint took so long to dry, this piece took about 3 weeks to finish.

Winter Bird

This was really a test peice to see how difficult hand-razoring cardboard was. It was hard. Colored with purple sharpie and detailed with faux pearl beads sewn onto the cardboard. This was finished in about an hour.

A close-up on the razor work. I'm very proud of this! ^_^

The success of these have given me the courage to do my next piece that I've been thinking about for a while, which will be a play on the childhood craft of melting crayon shavings between layers of wax paper!

2  Mega Blossom in Interior Decorating: Completed Projects by Threaderella on: August 13, 2009 12:35:20 AM
I think this goes here..

So, my walls have the absolute ugliest fake wood paneling ever. My solution? Start covering that crap up! So my first solution, and easiest to conquer, was the wall above the ugliest couch ever the resides in my room. It called for something big and beautiful, like a giant rasterbated black and white flower! Check this puppy out!

Bad picture of it, but I only have one working light in my room and it's almost 4am! I love it to death!

3  Rasterbation Location Deliberation (Sideways-Image Chunky) in Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions by Threaderella on: August 10, 2009 07:10:33 PM
Ok, I think I posted this in the right place this time

Ok, so since losing my job I have been informed by my room mates that I have to move into the ugliest room in the house, the den. While I have absolutely no problem doing this (PROS: it's the biggest room in the house and has its own entrance and backdoor exit. CONS: No door, two random window-like whole in the wall, pale pseudo-wood paneling all over the room.), it needs an artists touch. So I set out and did something that's been tickling my creative bone lately, a rasterbation.

And what a rasterbation it is! It's a hanging branch from our neighbors cherry blossom tree in black and white! And even through I was scared it was going to look terrible, it came out great! Fifty-six 4x6 pieces of black, white, and gray glory! Forgive the bad angle and lighting though.

But now I'm faced with a small dilemma. Should it go above my bed, or on the front door. I'm stuck in the middle, I can't decide! Any suggestions?
