1  A Disney Cars scoodie for my kiddo in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by thecupcakeprincess on: December 08, 2009 10:26:25 PM
Hello!  First post in clothing! Normally I'm a crocheter.  My husband is in the Air Force and we are being stationed at Misawa Air Base in Northern Japan.  They get snow and other types of weather and general cold there (that we don't get in Texas where I'm at), so I've been busy making things to keep my 2 year old from freezing.

I made this scoodie with Disney cars cotton fabric and a really nice gray fleece.  I followed Vegbee's tute, but since i don't have a sewing machine at the moment, it's entirely hand sewn.  And because I'm essentially a lazy person I didn't bother pinning most of it either.  Well anyway here are the pics!  C and C are completely welcome!

2  First time cooking anything that didn't come in a box! Chocolate Marshmallows! in Dessert by thecupcakeprincess on: December 08, 2009 10:22:07 AM
This is my first post in Cooking Smiley Normally I crochet but after seeing WildeHeart2105 Chocolate Swirl Marshmallows http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=328091.0, I became obsessed with trying to make marshmallows.  So I followed the Alton Brown recipe and added the chocolate chips but they didn't swirl like i hoped and ended up just being chocolate marshmallows.  They were super delicious though!  They tasted like the inside of a 3 Musketeers bar!

Since I've learned how to make them, my Mother-In-Law have been brainstorming of other types of marshmallows to make.  I'm going to make peppermint ones for Christmas.  I'll let you know how they turn out!

Ok on to pictures.

I went a little overboard on the powdered sugar/cornstarch mixture.

3  Hats and a Boy With His Purple Scarf in Crochet: Completed Projects by thecupcakeprincess on: September 28, 2009 04:19:00 PM
My husband is in the Air Force and we will be moving to Misawa Air Base in Japan sometime in Dec.  They have cold and snowy winters so I've been busy making hats and scarves for the cold.  Its very odd making cold winter things during summer in Texas!  Anyways on to the pictures!

These are patterns from Mamachee.

Last but not least a scarf of my own device.  My son stole it and decided to model it for you all.

4  Red Hookholder in Crochet: Completed Projects by thecupcakeprincess on: August 27, 2009 10:05:48 AM
I just bought a set of bamboo handled crochet hooks.  I am constantly losing my regular hooks so I decided to crochet a cute little hook holder.  The yarn is "I Love This Yarn" from hobby lobby and its just rows of hdc with a scalloped edge.  The inside lining and hook pockets is cotton with (I think) Japanese characters.  My husband is in the Air Force and we're being stationed in Japan in December and I have since become obsessed with anything Japanese.  Anyhow, it has a layer of interfacing in it too and is completely hand sewn since I don't have a sewing machine right now.  Sorry about the bad quality photos, my toddler lost the memory card to my camera!

One side looks a bit wonky because of the bulky hook handles
