1  "You will be happy, VERY happy"--Future Niece/Nephew's Wall Hanging in Needlework: Completed Projects by Avabrowneyes on: March 18, 2010 10:25:10 PM
Hello there!

This piece was inspired by a particularly harrowing evening with KFHs (kids from HADES). In self-defense I started plottinger, planningthe fates of future nieces and nephews and all the subliminal messages I could send them to improve behavior.

Sadly I came up short on the subliminal message department, but I did end up with this cute piece. Maybe the cheery colors and good wishes I implanted in it will produce a happy disposition at the very least Smiley

This is my second embroidery project. I used back stitch, straight stitch, French knot, and the pretty nifty satin stitch.

Thanks for checking it out!

2  Birds of a Feather: The Love Birds Wedding Gift in Sublime Stitching Embroidery by Avabrowneyes on: March 18, 2010 10:22:08 PM
Hello!

I'm a crafty kind of girl, but this was my first embroidery project. When my brother announced he was getting married in May, I wanted to give them something that really captured who he and his future wife were as a couple. That was a challenge since they didn't do handmade things. We've all been confronted with this problem at one point or another.

Things have since changed, unfortunately, but I'm now free to reveal the Big Project, as it were.

I bought the Sublime Stitching book specifically for the love birds and just went crazy. My brother is a musician. Swallows are very important to our family. My brother and father have tattoos of them. Mine is scheduled right after I get over my fear of needles Smiley Future SIL was an aspiring tattoo artist and amazing artist in general.

I freehanded the music notes. I employed the back stitch 90% of the time, some satin stitch, and used the wedding colors for the birds. The eye colors are also true to life.

Thanks for checking it out!

Got fabulous packages from leigh123 and sarahj2001!

(From leigh) A wonderful tote that has all my swap-in-progress crafts now, and a great pin cushion for my sewing machine (how did I live without it?)

(from sarah) A thread catcher and Swallow stencils! Holy frijoles, my whole family was standing around the table and geeking out about them.

Thank you so much, ladies!

Wow! Yesterday I thought I was just going to get one swap packageI ended up with four! My postlady was impressed. I was just over the moon, that's all Smiley

JodiLynn absolutely spoiled me.

Reusable menstrual pads and wet bag. My future SIL and her mother covet. Bwahahaha.

Reusable Swiffer mop covers. Also coveted. I was cackling out loud at this point.

Bobbins and pattern for the pads.

My absotively posolutely favorite item of all this, however, was my seed starter kit. JodiLynn took the time to not only sort and label, she included instructions tailored for Tennessee. You sweetheart you!

Not pictured is a sweater she sent me to repurpose for the yarn.

You made my day, JodiLynn. Thank you for the time, effort, thought you put into my package!

I received from jeniferpi yesterday! It was sweetly decorated by her daughter. There was mucho excitement at my house, as my sister happened to be here when the package arrived. She pounced on half the stuff with an agility I must admire. Smiley

List O' Loot!

Embroidery hoop, thread, and ribbands. Paint tray. Jewelry equipment, macrame cord and beads, and buttons.

And when I say buttons, I mean BUTTONS. Observe.

My sister pawing through her newfound booty. I think the details of her wedding are getting to her, as evidenced by her goofy face.

Thank you so much jeniferpi!
