1  Painted Fawn Blazer in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by lauramae on: April 04, 2005 10:49:42 PM
So I've had this blazer just sitting around because it was dry clean only and my sister put it in the wash after I told her not to so it got a little distorted. I still love the blazer anyway so I though I'd try and pull the attention away from any visaible distortion (I think i'm the only who really sees it though..). So I came up with this:

front is kind of bland, I'm thinking of doing something later but I replaced the black buttons with white ones and painted the little thing in the corner

I loveeeee the back, I typed fawn in google image search and that picture came up from a coloring book and I free handed it on to the jacket and than added all of the swirly leafy so on.

I used a mix of acrylics, fabic paint, and sharpie (over the paint). So it's proabbyl not very washable but it doesn't matter anyway to me since I always hand wash anything with fabric paint, just in case.

Would any of you be even remotely interested in buying something like this? I've started an online business so I'm figuring out things to sell...

2  4 new earrings and a pin (lots of pictures) in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by lauramae on: March 07, 2005 02:40:10 PM
Since the first pair of earrings I've made four more and a pin. My suppplies are pretty limited so that's why they are all using pretty much the same things.

These are the second pari I've made just using chain from an old necklace and rose tear drops

Pretty much like the ones before but just a small clump of the rose tear drops

I don't really know what I was going for when I made this pin..just experimenting. But It does actually look pretty when against chocolate brown.

I made these with some extra buttons. the buttons have a pearl-y shimmer to them which is shown better in the linked picture

And I've only made the one so far..I'm not sure if I like it enough to make the other. Just experimenting with wire

3  Re: Promalong - Making your own Prom dress? Join the club! in Clothing Sewalongs by lauramae on: March 06, 2005 09:27:23 PM
So I thought I'd finally join the fun after reading this for so long. This is the dress I plan to make:

I hate the typical prom dresses (no offfence to those who like them..) and I love vintage dresses so instead of buying one for a few hundred dollars I figured I'd make a dress with a vintage flair.

It seems fairly simple to make and I'm going to make a seperate sash to tie around the wasit and put a brooch or two on if you were wondering what those little white things were...
And there will be a top layer made of lace and than underneath there will be tulle and the softer stuff that is like tulle..I forget the name.

I'm going to get the lace and zipper parts on Wednesday that way I get an early start since i'm probably going to hand sew most of it..

5  My First Earrings! in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by lauramae on: February 20, 2005 09:41:29 PM
I've always been fond of the idea of making my own jewelry since it is so expensive to buy and so when I went down to Portland this weekend to check out a college and of course had o go shopping when I discovered a bead shop. I'm in loooove now. So I decided to just buy a few things and make a pair of earrings.

They are really simple but I love them

And I love how they just peek out from underneath my hair

Sorry the pictures are all sort of blurry, my camera decided it wouldn't take focused pictures.
