In my awkward pubescent years, I had a classmate who would make fun of my hair and call me Miss Frizzle because I hadn't yet figured out my hair would curl and it made this big poofy mass around my head.  (Having big thick glasses didn't help me much either!)  This Halloween, I decided to pay homage to myself at age 12 and to one of my very favorite elementary tv shows.



The dress was a recon from Goodwill I bought for $3 with sleeves that were supposed to be 3/4, a skirt that nearly reached my ankles, and shoulder pads comparable to ones a football player would wear:



I took out the pads, cut off the sleeves (the leftover fabric from when I took out the shoulder pads was just enough to make short sleeves) and hemmed the dress.  Then I painted it with moons, planets, a rocket ship, an astronaut, etc.
The shoe stars and earrings were made with wood cutouts painted yellow and glittered.  For the former I glued bobby pins to the back and pinned them on my shoes for the latter I used a screwdriver to make a hole and put in a fish hook earring,

My first finished project post!
Story:  I was lucky enough to get a chance to work alongside an RN this summer (I'm in school for nursing) and at the end of my internship I made a plaque for her with one of her favorite statements:  "Sorry, I'm busy saving lives and making a difference."  (Another good quote from her was "Don't talk to me unless you have money or Dove chocolate."  lol!)

So anyway, I wanted to post this plaque along one I made with my monogram (I don't know about anywhere else, but monograms are HUGE here in South Carolina.)  I'm incredibly proud of these, and very excited I found Craftster so I can communicate with other craft lovers! =)



I still have to buy ribbon for this one:
