7  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / Photo Cookie Jar w/ Tutorial! on: December 22, 2004 09:50:26 AM
VERY CUTE MOTHER IDEA!
Okay , well see a couple years ago we had this really cute cookie jar but one day i dropped it and broke (uh-oh!) and so my mom has been wanting a new one for like ever but we never really got her one yet - well for xmas this yr all she wanted was a new one from this pottery place (www.themadpotter.biz/contact.htm ) but it is like really expensive so me and my sisters (my idea though) decided to make one - i dont have any pics yet but its real cute and heres the tutorial...... Roll Eyes

We went to Target and got this plain glass cookie jar for like 7-8 bucks
We went to Michaels and got a new thing of Mod Podge (yaya!) and sponge brush

Total : $17.76 (as opposed to the $50 we would have had to spend at the pottery place)

We got some family pictures and color copied them to like 60% so we could fit a lot
Then I just Mod Podged all the pictures on, waited for it to dry, and sealed it like 3-4 coats

I don't think it will be able to go through the dishwasher, but hey, its a cookie jar!

PS the Mod Podge DOES work as a glue on the glass - i was nervous about it but it is staying on (especially after Ii sealed it)

10  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / Magnets! on: December 21, 2004 08:03:58 PM
ok so like i dont know if anyone has tried this but it is the easiest thing i have ever done ! get a bunch of spare change ( i like the new state quarters the best) and just put some sitcky magnet backing on it and ......
VOILA ! you have a coin magnet - i dont have any pics but they are really fun and youll get lots of compliments!  Also i know this shouldnt be on this board but also you can make puff magnets (look at the puffs on http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=20253.0) and just glue a little stiff paper on the back and put magnet on the back ! they also multitask as little dry erase board erasers (like for your locker! i love mine!
