On Thursday night I took Abe to visit the Canadian Geese in Wascana Park. I'm from Regina, Saskatchewan, and Wascana Park is the city's main park.  For reference, it's 2,300 acres, while Central Park in New York is 843 acres and Vancouver's Stanley Park is 1,000 acres.  In a city of only 180,000 people, it's a pretty good sized park!  It's basically a refuge for Canadian Geese, and I swear there are tons of them!  Abe met a few, but he was a little scared, since they can be vicious if you have no bread.  I'm glad he made it out alive.

Abe arrived on Wednesday, and has been making friends and seeing the sights ever since.  Last night we went out for pizza at a local place, and Abe stuffed himself silly.

I received an awesome package from annaonthemoon!  Here's the goodies

- 3 balls of yarn (count them... 3!)

- nail polish
- tons of stitch markers (and I mean tons!)

- 2 scented highlighters
- a size M crochet hook, one of the few sizes I don't have
- a British flag patch
- lots of embroidery thread
- googly eyes
- a row counter
- 6 new hair clips with skulls and "rock" and "roll" on them
 - a mini tape dispenser with extra tape

- 8 awesome bottlecap magnets
- an Anne of Green Gables postcard
- a puss in boots toy

- blue fishnets
- Harry Potter stickers
- a huge pile of candy

Here's the lovely window decoration samsara sent me.  The picture really doesn't do it justice.  The knit edging around the disk is silver thread, and the poem written inside is in the most beautiful handwriting.  The moon is also silver.

The poem reads:
"Mrs. Moon, sitting up in the sky, little old lady, rock-a-bye, with a ball of fading light and silvery needles, knitting the night"

6  Air Guitar returns! in Knitting: Completed Projects by nellum on: July 19, 2006 06:56:27 AM
I found a pattern for a knit guitar in "New Knits on the Block" and knew that I had to make it.  Since my boyfriend plays bass guitar in a local jazz band, I modified the pattern a little (made the neck longer, 4 tuning pegs instead of 6) and he loves it.  In fact, the night I gave it to him he hardly let go of it.  Here it is, in all it's leftover-knitting-from-stash glory!

Please excuse the messy basement

10  Re: Precious Soccer Shirts in Clothing: Discussion and Questions by nellum on: June 30, 2005 08:58:36 AM
I have made a couple of blankets out of old shirts before.  If she's not opposed to cutting them, you cut a square out of the graphic side of the shirt (probably the back for a soccer shirt), making sure the squares from all of the shirts are the same time, and then sew them together to make a blanket... back it with an old sheet (preferably flannel, it's more comfortable), put quilt binding around the edges, and either sew lines on it to keep it all together (like a quilt), or using yarn, tie it where the corners of the squares meet (here's a picture, that's confusing)  The top layer is red, the bottom is blue, and the yarn is black

Since soccer shirts usually have a team or league logo on the front, you could also cut those out and sew them to the back pieces in a corner, so that she has those too
I hope this helps
